The Awesome Foundation - Vegan Chapter

The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports awesome projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. These micro-grants, $1000 or the local equivalent, come out of pockets of the chapter's "trustees" and are given on a no-strings-attached basis to people and groups working on awesome projects.

The first chapter formed in Boston in 2009, and since then more than 80 active, independent chapters have formed in cities across the world. Recently, worldwide affinity foundations have formed, where trustees are bound by a common interest rather than a common location. The Awesome Foundation Vegan Chapter is forming to support projects that promote vegan eating and compassion toward animals, everywhere.

The Awesome Foundation Vegan Chapter is looking for Trustees who can contribute $100 and 2-3 hours each month to review, discuss, and vote on proposals for awesome vegan projects. What constitutes an awesome project? That will be for you to decide! If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact steve@sfvtech.org.

The 12th Silicon Valley Code Camp Was Vegan Friendly!

Boxes of vegan Ike's sandwiches.SVCC worked with us to provide vegan options to attendees this year. It was a pleasure handing out a variety of Ike's vegan sandwiches to surprised and grateful folks. I learned that a lot of people who have never eaten meat are not interested in Tofurky or tofu; they just wanted a vegetable sandwich. We were able to alter the order for Sunday to make everyone happy.

We're doing this again next year, so plan on attending this affordable and diverse conference with us.
