NRA Vs. Bloomberg, the Future of Islam, the H&K P2000SK and retail sales!

The retail site is finally up! The gear, equipment and general stuff that the Aegis Academy staff lives, works and plays in is available - or will be soon! Of note, we had to migrate the login data to your email address so many of you will have to reset your password in order to login!

Every week the retail site will feature a discount of some sort on a product or service that we offer. The deal of the week will be announced in the weekly newsletter! Each product is currently listed as "out of stock" and it will be added as "in stock" and available for purchase as do final proofing of the site over next several weeks. If you see something you like, you'll save a few bucks on when it is featured so patience may be the key!

To show our appreciation for helping make this company a success over the past few years, we have extend all membership expiration dates to September 1, 2015 - at no additional charge to you! Additionally, you can credit the full value of your membership toward a lifetime membership conversion and save even more via the deal of the week!

Despite my fascination with our new retail component, we have a few other things going on in the world this week!

The NRA has started to go after Bloomberg, (see the video at the end of the newsletter) and although it is largely a personal attack (accurate and well deserved in my opinion), I do not think the impact of negative personal attacks will play negatively for the NRA in this case.

Having spent a significant portion of my adult life actively studying and fighting terrorists, ISIS is quite different. While the short term threat to America remains remote, the longer term impact on both America, the western world and Islam itself will be profound. Take a look at this week's article - The future of Islam - to get a feel for why they place us at a crossroads that we are currently unprepared to deal with!

Lastly, looking for a new concealed carry gun? I carried the H&K P2000 SK for about three years and Jim is right on with his review. Take a look at Jim Stahl's review of the H&K P2000. Get a feel for a well designed and effective concealed carry gun, and ID a few limitations to see if it meets your needs!

Have fun, stay safe and I'll see you on the range!

Is ISIS the future of Islam?

Western leadership has denounced the beheading of James Foley, and both Obama and Blair have referred to ISIS as a “cancer”. Cancer is probably the most accurate analogy of what Islamic extremism really is to Islam as whole. The real question we need to ask is if we can treat it? In making that determination in a cancer patient, we would look at the location of the cancer, the growth rate and the degree of metastasis of the infection. For diseases, we would also like to know the vector (or mechanism by which it spreads). We have metrics to measure these all of these components of extremist Islam.

The National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) released an unclassified version of their
2011 Report on Terrorism, which shows that 56% of total attacks can be attributed to Sunni Islamists. They are also responsible for more than 70% of total global terrorist attack deaths, which tells us that on average their attacks are considerably more violent than other terrorist groups. If we do not face the fact that there is a strong correlation between terrorists, terrorist attacks and Islam, then we are choosing to ignore the statistical reality of the problem. If we continue to ignore the causal factors of the problem, we have very little chance of solving it.

HK P2000SK – Review By James Stahl

If you’re looking for a reliable sub compact gun, the HK P2000 SK is worth considering. My first experience with H&K was in the late 90s, when I tested the USP model. I remember it being reliable, heavy, and built to last. Many of the same features of that system are present in the HK P2000 SK.

Foremost the HK P2000 SK is a sub compact, so the grip is small for most hand sizes. The magazine makes up part of the grip when inserted, and even so is small for my size 8 glove hands. It is workable for most hand sizes I have seen, as several of our clients have used the gun. It is a double-stacked magazine, and holds 10 rounds in the California legal versions. The diameter of the grip will fit larger hands a bit better, but the length of the front strap is short, at 2 1/8 inches. The angle of the back strap is comfortable, and it points well. The beaver tail is thick and allows me to grip the pistol high worrying about slide bite.  The texturing is not overly aggressive on the sides, but the front and back straps have a nonskid coat.

A Look Back in Time

Getting Faster!

Classical conditioning is the basis for any effective skill development program. With physical skills, the basis is neuromuscular programming, which effectively means myelination of the neuro-pathways that support movement of the appropriate muscle groups. In other words: repetition! That said, not all repetition is equal.

Gun Fact of the Week

Ever wonder how the M16A2 became so popular?

In the 1960’s the US Marine Corps wanted a new rifle for troops to use. Thus, the M16 was born. The original M16, used primarily in the Vietnam War, proved vulnerable to battlefield abuses and started the process of reworking into the M16A2. The improved M16 included reinforced barrels, support for the 40mm M203 grenade launcher, adjustable rear sights and reinforced shoulder stock, to name a few changes. Another major change was from fully automatic to a more controllable three-round burst and standard semi-automatic fire options. The Marines were the first to adopt the M16A2 in the mid-1980’s and the other branches followed suit.

While there were several changes made to the original, some things stayed. The gas-operated, rotating bolt system and the two-piece, upper and lower receiver system. Along with other standard options from the original.

The M16A2 is now being replaced by the M16A4, but it is still the rifle that set the standard for the future of semi-automatic rifles.

And now you know!

So We Never Forget:

This we week are sharing a SEAL of Honor post so the actions that earned Signalman First Class Douglas Albert Munro the Medal of Honor are not forgotten.

For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous gallantry for action above and beyond the call of duty as Petty Officer in Charge of a group of 24 Higgins boats, engaged in the evacuation of a battalion of marines trapped by enemy Japanese forces at Point Cruz Guadalcanal, on 27 September 1942. After making preliminary plans for the evacuation of nearly 500 beleaguered marines, Munro, under constant strafing by enemy machineguns on the island, and at great risk of his life, daringly led 5 of his small craft toward the shore. As he closed the beach, he signaled the others to land, and then in order to draw the enemy's fire and protect the heavily loaded boats, he valiantly placed his craft with its 2 small guns as a shield between the beachhead and the Japanese. When the perilous task of evacuation was nearly completed, Munro was instantly killed by enemy fire, but his crew, 2 of whom were wounded, carried on until the last boat had loaded and cleared the beach. By his outstanding leadership, expert planning, and dauntless devotion to duty, he and his courageous comrades undoubtedly saved the lives of many who otherwise would have perished. He gallantly gave his life for his country.

Check out the NRA's anti Bloomberg ad here!

Bloomberg has been purchasing support for his patently false social theories and paying his cronies to ram them down America's throat for too long. I for one am glad to see the NRA call him out and can't wait to see the impact on the politicians who accepted his bribes in November!
