This month's newsletter focuses on Operational Groups (OGs). Hear about some first experiences from people involved in OGs and discover a range of tools and information which are available for you to use on the EIP-AGRI website.

Innovation brokerage and support

Jean-Marc Gautier supported Operational Group Robustagno as innovation broker and is now the group's facilitator. His specific role is to ensure that partners work together in a way which will enable them to reach their goals. “Choosing the right topic and the best mix of people from the beginning is essential.” Read the full interview with Jean-Marc here.

Improving chicken value chains in Germany

An OG in Hesse, Germany, involving 6 organic hen farmers is looking into innovative uses for laying hens at the end of their productive life. They are developing new, local food products from the organic meat to provide extra income for farmers, to reduce environmental impact and improve animal welfare. Read more.
Operational Groups - First Experiences
The EIP-AGRI workshop 'Operational Groups: first experiences' took place in Italy in April 2016. Some participants told us about their OG experiences.

Information now online!

To help you navigate your way through setting up an Operational Group, EIP-AGRI has created a specific section on the website. It contains information on the many important steps of an OG project's life. As information about current OGs starts to become available, you will be able to read about the projects and find links to all their supporting material. Have a look.

Updated OG brochure

To set up a successful Operational Group, it takes a good innovative idea, the right partners, a solid plan and effective ways of spreading results. The new EIP-AGRI brochure on Operational Groups gives an update on the information and support that is available, with examples from OG projects that have already started.

Report from EIP-AGRI Workshop

In April 2016 in Legnaro, Italy, over 80 people from existing Operational Groups and other relevant stakeholders came together at the EIP-AGRI workshop 'Operational Groups: first experiences' to explore the initial experiences of setting up OGs and the early stages of project implementation. The report from this event is now available here.

Leaflet presenting 11 existing projects

New approaches to pest control (Austria), sweet potatoes as an alternative crop (France), preservation of old breeds of domestic animals (Germany) … representatives of these existing Operational Group projects and 8 others attended the EIP-AGRI workshop in April. This leaflet offers short descriptions of all of them, information on the partners involved and contact details. Download the leaflet.

Sharing results

Over 3200 Operational Groups are expected to be established under the Rural Development Programmes (2014 – 2020). Their results will be shared throughout the EIP-AGRI network. The EIP-AGRI common format is the standard format through which OG are required to communicate their information and results. Find more information on the common format.

Did you know that you can find lists to existing Operational Groups in several different countries here on the EIP-AGRI website? If you know of any more, send them to us!
