Selling dairy products from a milk van

Stanislav Nemec’s, dairy farmer from Czech Republic, runs a mobile shop, selling his products directly to the consumer. His ‘milk vans’ pull in at over 1 750 stations across Bohemia selling milk, cheese, ice cream and yoghurt. Customers receive alerts that the van is coming by text message. Read more.

Ordering local food via social networks

REKO organises the delivery of local produce directly from farmer to consumer using Facebook for the orders. Inspired by a similar project in France, it is the first of its kind in Finland. Mia, a local consumer says “It’s not only about the food, it’s about the community”. Read on and watch the video below.

Soil organic matter matters

Soil organic matter, the organic component of soil, has many benefits for agricultural production. Healthy soils with stable levels of soil organic matter are better equipped to prevent and fight soil-borne diseases, leading to better yields and financial benefits for farmers. Thank you to Focus Group call candidates

The call for experts for three new EIP-AGRI Focus Groups closed yesterday. Many thanks to all the applicants and to those who helped to spread the call. We received 241 applications, which will now be reviewed. The experts will be informed on the outcome of the selection process by 8 September.

EIP-AGRI Seminar 'Data revolution'

ICT and sensor based technologies now mean there is a lot of data collected throughout the whole supply chain. During the recent EIP-AGRI seminar, 121 participants from 25 countries shared experiences on data-driven business models. “It’s very valuable to understand how organisations work in different countries and industries” commented one of the participants. H2020 Thematic Network Eurodairy

EuroDairy is a new H2020 Thematic Network set up to ensure an effective exchange of information on resource efficiency, biodiversity, animal care and socioeconomic resilience in the dairy sector in Europe. It is an open network platform to increase the economic, social and environmental sustainability “at this crucial time for the sector” - Katrine Lecornu, President of European Dairy Farmers. Apply to new circular economy pilot scheme

Innovators seeking to introduce a circular economy-related product or service to the market can apply to participate in a new pilot scheme called ‘Innovation Deals’ by setting out the regulatory obstacles they are struggling to overcome. The selected projects will allow innovators to swiftly address legislative obstacles, shortening the time between moment of inspiration and market uptake. Find out how to apply.

Ensuring a sustainable, competitive & economically viable EU agriculture sector

In view of the increasing challenges facing EU farmers and agri-cooperatives, Copa and Cogeca, representing over 23 million European farmers and their families, as well as 22000 agri-cooperatives, are organising a congress on 5-6 October in Greece on how to ensure a sustainable, competitive, innovative and economically viable EU agriculture sector in the future. Info Week H2020 Societal Challenge 2

The Info Week about FP7 and Horizon 2020 projects and calls on agriculture and forestry took place in Brussels from 27-29 June. 500 people participated over 3 days in the Dissemination Event, the Info Day on the 2017 calls and the Coordinators' Day for current project consortia.
