Kennedy Center and CETA Schools visit

The Any Given Child Sarasota team had the opportunity to visit the Kennedy Center in April to participate in two workshops and school visits. Jessica DiLorenzo, Arts Integration Specialist, and Maria Schaedler-Luera, Program Manager, visited two schools in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area that are a member of the Kennedy Center's Changing Education Through the Arts (CETA) program. The CETA program helps teachers develop their expertise in integrating the arts with the teaching of other school subjects. The visit displayed how the Kennedy Center and schools work together to develop, implement, and evaluate an arts integrated approach to teaching and learning.

Project Elevate Highlight: Super Powered Stories

Project Elevate schools have been developing their own drawings and stories based on the Super Powered Stories workshop from Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Richard Jenkins, brought to Sarasota with our Partner in Education, The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Teachers received coaching from our Arts Integration Specialist and lead their students through the different steps in creating super heros and writing. Check the images below to see how this strategy gets students and teachers excited about arts integration.
