Greetings!

Can you believe it? Only two weeks left in 2015-2016 school year, and what a great year it has been. Thank you for all that you have done, and continue to do, in order to help us bring quality arts education to ALL students in Sarasota County Schools.

Here is a look at some of our recent news...

Project Elevate Celebrates Successful Year

As the school year winds down, teachers and students involved in our Project Elevate programs at Atwater, Brentwood, Emma E. Booker and Tuttle Elementary Schools are celebrating the completion of a highly successful year of arts integrated instruction in their curriculums. To mark the occasion, each of the schools has been holding culminating events and exhibitions to showcase the students' achievements. Among the works have been tableaus on American history; haiku poems, paintings and reflections about the star cycle; murals about rainforests; student photography on geometry and angles; stories of constellations, puppetry and dance; and portraits and writing produced by students. We are proud of the teachers and students in each of these schools for all of the incredible work they have accomplished this past year and look forward to working with them again next year!

Faces of Arts Integration - Bonnie Thomas

Over the past several months, we have introduced you to a number of principals, teachers and national teaching artists discussing the importance of arts integration on student learning outcomes. This month, we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how one of our area's foremost cultural attractions, The Ringling Museum, is using arts integration to introduce area 4th graders to some of the world's great masterpieces while also teaching them about our rich, local history.

The Ringling's Scholastic Programs Coordinator, Bonnie Thomas, explains the museum's arts integration programs
