CDEM Updates

Christian Dominican Evangelistic Mission is a mission organization made up of Dominican national pastors and workers who are striving to reach Monte Cristi and the surrounding areas with the saving message of Jesus Christ.

Rivas Missionary Family

Alberto reports continued blessing in the mission churches and school in the Dominican Republic.  We praise God for His great goodness.
Abigail continues to grow into a sweet young lady.  With the help of women from the Mountain Christian Church mission trip recently, Abigail celebrated a traditional, however late, 16th birthday with a photograph session at the beach with friends and family.  She is doing well in her first year of high school, 9th grade, and continues to be a blessing in this missionary family.
Jonathan likes 7th grade.  While some areas are more challenging, he has found that he really loves to read.
Please keep this dear family near to God in prayer.

Churches & School Update

CDEM board is in earnest prayer to meet the increased needs for the school in Buenos Aires.  The school continues to flourish and reap rewards for God's Kingdom through the education of the 105 young children.  This growth and increased expenses brings a greater prayer and financial need.
We are currently working on developing and communicating opportunities to help us meet these increased needs.  Sponsors for children @ $40 per month and teachers @ 270 per month are a priority.  Currently only six of the 105 children are sponsored and no teachers are sponsored.  We experience a shortfall of funds each month.
Succession planning and development of new leaders in the churches is another area of earnest need. We are thankful that Martin and his family have agreed to continue at the church in Monte Cristi.  However, they have expressed a great desire to move their family back to Barrero.  Church leaders in the Dominican Republic face similar needs for support and encouragement that our pastors and leaders in the US and around the world do.  There is a lack of spiritually strong and experienced leaders that can fill these needs in the Dominican.  CDEM board is making this a prayer priority along with exploring opportunities to grow and further support leaders in the churches in the Dominican Republic.

Website update:

CDEM website is currently experiencing some challenges which we are working on.  Right now, when accessing the website, a message appears indicating malicious software.  We are diligently working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Prayer needs:

  • Pray for the school situation as the government continues to consider requiring all schools to provide classes all day, which would double the cost of operating our school-currently half day.
  • Pray for the teachers and staff as they teach and shine for Jesus’ love in these children’s lives.
  • Pray for CDEM leadership—Both U.S. and D.R. boards will be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
  • Pray for the ministers, teachers, congregations, and communities in the D.R.
  • Pray for safety and health of the children who attend the school in Buenos Aires.
  • Pray that God will provide for all the needs.
