Celebration and outreach in Monte Cristi

In May, a two-day celebration of sharing God's Word and outreach to the community was very encouraging. Time was given to walking around the community, talking and listening to the people, with many joining to help. Abigail and another sister, Evelyn, did a Bible school with the children of the community.
It was reported to be a great time of cheerfulness, joy, and fellowship.

Praises and Opportunities

For the work and dedication of Alberto , the entire ministry team, their families, and the school teachers and staff.

For another successful school year and for those lives that have been positively influenced.

Buenos Aires school

The 2017 school year has wrapped up with the last official day of classes June 23, and 119 students finishing their grade level. This was the first year that the school offered the fifth grade.
We praise and thank our great God for several improvements to the school this year.  Most of these improvements were made possible through the Adam Schwab memorial.  Thank you for your contributions and for honoring Adam in this way.
Materials and labor to add a wall in one large classroom to provide an additional classroom with privacy.  Desks, toilets, cabinets, and windows were also added.
Urgent prayer is needed as Alberto and the DR Board faces new decisions.  Adding grade 6 was not being planned or advised by Alberto due to regulations and requirements for this higher grade level.  However, at the close of this school year, Alberto was informed by the DR Education Ministry that new regulations required them to provide through the sixth grade, or to provide only through the third grade. Adding another grade raises many extra needs and resources. Eliminating two grades is very detrimental to the community and children of Buenos Aires.  We are confident God will guide and provide.

Satan's attacks

Scripture tells us that wherever His name is proclaimed and His work is being carried out, that Satan will attack. It is apparent that Satan is making his presence known through changes in pastoral leadership and need for stronger unity among the CDEM churches.  Please pray for Alberto and the leaders in the DR, as well as the US CDEM Board as we seek God’s direction, in our desire to share the saving message of Jesus Christ with the people in the DR.  We know our God is greater and stronger, and He will fight for us.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
I Peter 5:8-9 NIV

Alberto, Abigail, & Jonathan

Alberto, along with his children, Abigail and Jonathan continue to serve as missionaries in the Dominican Republic.  Alberto leads and oversees the CDEM mission including four churches and the school. Their primary home is in Santiago, where Jonathan and Abigail attend school. Abigail will be entering 11th grade and Jonathan will be in 9th grade this fall.
Abigail and Jonathan each had the opportunity to join a tour of Washington DC, sponsored by their school this past school year.
Most weekends they travel to Monte Cristi where they attend and assist with services in the churches of CDEM, as a family.
The Lund family and friends in the US are looking forward to a visit from Abigail and Jonathan in July.  Plans are underway so they can visit in  Minnesota and Iowa.
Please continue to pray for the Rivas family as Alberto continues to rely on our Heavenly Father to help guide him in raising his children for God's honor and glory.
