What's the Word on the Street?

  • Power to the People who voted on Tuesday: Voters in the Bay Area resoundingly rejected Prop 6, an attempt to repeal funding to fix roadways and to improve safety for people who walk or bike. This means Oakland can get back to projects that smooth the pavement, build cycletracks and beef up safe walking/strolling/scootering networks throughout the city.
  • Biketopia tonight with Bike East Bay: Our friends and ally are having their biggest end of the year party tonight in Berkeley at the Ed Roberts Campus. Tickets and Info here.
  • Thank you Bike East Bay and Ford GoBike: Last month's Women Bike Happy hour was a blast! We are committed to keeping a safe and fun space for women and women-identified folks who want to bicycle.  Ride Like a Girl and Women Bike Happy Hours will continue in 2019. Learn more about RLAG.
We keep the WOBO fire alive because there is joy, health, and happiness when walking and bicycling is Safe, Accessible, Easy, and Fun.  Email us if you'd like to try on a leadership role on our all-volunteer Board. Check out our current roster of Boardies.  We have serious fun.
There are stories and inspirations behind the many on-street murals in Oakland. We're leading a group ride with Tom Holub of Totally Doable Sunday 11/11, starting at 10am at Ashby BART on the Adeline side of the station.
Ride is free, pretty flat 13 mile route. And we'll end in Fruitvale @ Ale Industries.

We thank you, our community partners, allies, critics, and mentors who continually light the way so that WOBO grows stronger to  advocate for great neighborhoods through awesome walking and bicycling.  Happy Thanksgiving wishes to all!
