Ride Like a Girl Bike Camping

The 2017 Ride Like a Girl season closer is a bike camping trip to Coyote Hills Regional Park!
Ride from Oakland (30 miles) or Union City (6 miles) with a group to enjoy an intro to bike camping experience. Learn how to pack gear on your bike and get comfortable biking with gear at a pre-trip orientation.
Prior bike camping (or camping) experience is not required for the trip, but we ask that all participants be comfortable biking for the distance they pick and be confident on their bikes while carrying weight and riding as a group. Participants will be responsible for their own food and drink. Water, bathrooms, campfire and s'mores provided.
Suggested donation of $15 to cover campsite fees and safety gear. WOBO and Bike East Bay members ride for free!

PARK(ing) Day

Please join us in celebrating Oakland's PARK(ing) Day 2017 on September 15!
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide day where artists, businesses, and citizens transform parking spots into temporary public parks, art galleries, libraries and other interesting destinations.
Have fun designing a creative use for a parking spot. Let us know where your transformed parking space will be! We are creating a map of all of Oakland's PARK(ing) Day spots and will include yours.
On Park(ing) Day, remember to pay the meter throughout the day and to stay safe on the streets. Here is more information on Park(ing) Day and making your own temporary parklet.

Take me Out to the Ballgame...by Bike or by Foot!
By bike or by foot! The A’s are considering three locations for a new ballpark: Coliseum, Howard Terminal northwest of Jack London Square, and the Peralta Community College District headquarters near Laney College. Building a 30,000 seat ballpark means creating new infrastructure, and WOBO is working to make sure biking and walking options are prioritized.
You can help! The Oakland Athletics are conducting a online survey and community “office hours” with A’s President Dave Kaval to gather feedback about possible locations. The next meeting will be August 30 from 4:30-7:30 pm at La Estrellita Café. Find out more or complete the survey to ensure that you can bike, walk or take public transit to enjoy that home run.
