SLOW OAKLAND FOR SAFETY AND EQUITY

WOBO's new Slow Oakland campaign is seeking commitments from 1000 Oaklanders to help reduce speeds on Oakland streets. High speeds and traffic violence affect Oakland communities not only physically, but also economically. Studies have shown that fatality rates are twice as high in America’s poorest neighborhoods as in higher-income neighborhoods. To sign up, or for more information, please visit our website
Speed kills: a car traveling at 40mph needs almost 3x the stopping distance of one at 20mph.
