GOVERNMENT SHOULD SAY NO TO MORE AMERICA’S CUP MONEY
15 JUNE 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"Taxpayers’ shouldn't be forced to cough up for Team New Zealand while private sponsors won't put their money where their mouth is,” says the Executive Director of the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union, Jordan Williams.
“If Mr Dalton is correct and it’s only a matter of time before the corporate funding will come online, he needs a loan, not more welfare."
“Just like taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund rugby or golf, sailing should not rely on continued handouts from politicians."
"New Zealand faces challenges requiring money that are much more urgent than a yacht race."
