MBA Updates
September 2019
The fall term is just getting underway! If you have a class starting on or before Sept. 9, you should have received an email at your university email account with class access instructions from Online Course Support. You can access classes in Canvas at, using your university credentials to log in. If you have trouble logging in or have other technical questions, contact Below is some important information to help get your semester off to a good start.

Code of Conduct

Before viewing content in classes, you will need to agree to the Student Code of Conduct in every course. When you first access your course, you'll see a note at the top of the page about completing the Code of Conduct. Once you agree, your course's content will be revealed. Please read the Code carefully, and contact if you have any questions.

Canvas Best Practices 

Beginning in Summer 2019, all UW MBA Consortium courses are now located in Canvas. Two important items to update are your profile and notification settings. We've compiled a guide to help you learn how to update those items, as well as giving you some more information on discussions and grades. Click here to read more

Browser updates - Canvas no longer works with Internet Explorer. We highly recommend using Google Chrome. For full list of supported browsers, please click here.

Online Course Resources 

Each of your courses in Canvas has a tab on the course navigation bar called Online Course Resources. Under this tab, you can access Canvas Guides, netiquette guidelines, tech support information, library resources, and more.

Hurricanes and Classes

With the Atlantic hurricane season nearing its climatological peak, Hurricane Dorian currently impacting the Southeastern United States, and the term just getting underway, we're sending a reminder about reaching out to us if you are going to be impacted by the weather. We will do our best to make accommodations as needed. 


On August 28, three UW MBA Consortium faculty/staff members were presented with the 2019 UW-Eau Claire College of Business Employee Recognition Awards.

Jennifer Johs-Artisensi, who teaches MBA 789, won the Creativity & Innovation Award.

Julia Lehman-Caldwell, the lead instructional designer in iDocs, won the Coaching Award.

Kristy Lauver, who teaches MBA 713, won the Culture of Caring Award.

Welcoming Kerri & Carrie

The UW MBA Consortium welcomed two new staff members to the team this summer, Kerri Patton (pictured on the left) and Carrie Ottum (pictured on the right).

Kerri Patton, who started at the end of June, works as an instructional designer as part of our iDocs group  in the UW-Eau Claire College of Business. Kerri earned a B.A. in both German and English literature from UW-Eau Claire. After college, she spent a year teaching English in Dortmund, Germany, via a Fulbright Scholarship. She then worked five years for a leadership development firm headquartered in Minneapolis, before teaching German in high school for the next 10 years. In May 2019, she earned a master's degree in Educational Technology and a graduate certificate in Online Education from Boise State University. Kerri is married to Brad, who also works at UW-Eau Claire, and the couple has two daughters. When not at work, you can find her traveling, adventuring with her family, puttering in her garden, tinkering with stained glass, reading, baking, and watching BBC mini-series!

Carrie Ottum, who started May, works as the Outreach Program Manager in the UW-Eau Claire College of Business. She assists with marketing, social media, and communications for the UW MBA Consortium. Carrie has a B.A. in Recreation Management from UW-La Crosse. Prior to joining the College of Business, she worked for municipal park and recreation departments in Onalaska, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and Eau Claire as a recreation program supervisor. She and her husband, Ben, live in Eau Claire with two sons, Anderson (9) and Greyson (6). When not at work, Carrie enjoys cooking, running, riding bike, attending plays and concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
