A Full House - Window on Walney
Over 125 people attended the launch of our new People's Health Lottery funded project 'Window on Walney'. We hosted an afternoon of vintage tea to accompany the screening of 'The German Who Came to Tea', our highly acclaimed short documentary. Annie Day, the 102 year-old star of the film joined us for the screening.

Short Film Campaign
This month saw our premiere of 3 awareness-raising short films made in collaboration with Achieve North West and Cumbria Probation Trust. Based on real-life stories the films are designed to raise awareness of the issues faced by ex-offenders seeking employment.

This month we hosted the launch of Cine North, a new community cinema scheme. Cine North is funded by BFI Neighbourhood Fund and will bring digital cinema screenings to audiences under-served by cinema provision across Cumbria and Yorkshire. Signal is a lead partner and will be screening films as part of this initiative - our programme will be announced soon!

Signal Starters @ Furness Summer Camp
Signal Starters is a new film and media project for 8-11 year olds that will run over the next 3 years, kindly funded by BBC Children in Need. During the Summer Term we ran workshops in local schools and have now teamed up with our local MP, John Woodcock so that Signal Starters will also be part of the new, exciting Furness Summer Camp taking place this August.

Pupils Make Animation from Collected Walney Stories
Signal have been working with South Walney Juniors as part of the Window on Walney project. The children recorded interviews with Walney residents, piecing them together with stop motion animation.

Cooke's Crew Receive Arts Award
There were lots of smiles as we welcomed back some of our Cooke's Crew participants to watch the screening of the final cut of their animation 'Tweet'. They also received their Arts Award certificates. Well done everyone! Look out for the chance to get involved with new Cooke's Crew action in the Autumn.
