EUNIC NEWSLETTER
DECEMBER 2018
Dear colleagues,

We're currently preparing for the General Assembly scheduled for next week. Heads of all EUNIC member organisations meet twice a year to set EUNIC's strategic path. This time, our venue is the new contemporary art museum Kanal Centre Pompidou in Brussels. Follow @Eunic_Global for live tweets.

This General Assembly is special as a new project will be launched: European 'Houses' of Culture - Innovative Collaboration Models. For the first time, EUNIC is the implementation partner of an EU activity. We will publish a call to the EUNIC network in the spring of 2019 to find good ideas for models of cooperation between EU Delegations, EUNIC, and local partners. Up to EUR 60.000,00 will be available to implement projects - stay tuned for more info coming early next year.

With the year's end coming up, we are sending our season's greetings to you all and wish you a restful break with family and friends. We are back in the office on 7 January 2019.

TAKE US TO ... KINSHASA: EUROPEAN AWARD FOR CONGOLESE LITERATURE
Writers from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have almost no opportunities to get published – if they do, their books appear in Paris or Brussels. In order to change that, EUNIC and the EU Delegation have inaugurated the Prix Makomi, an award for young Congolese writers. Bart Ouvry, Ambassador to the DRC, and Carmen Garcia, Cultural Focal Point at the DRC EU Delegation (photo bottom left), present the project and share their vision for future collaboration between EU Delegations and EUNIC. Read the full interview here.

Some cluster presidents and others engaged in EUNIC add their responsibilities to their online CVs on LinkedIn. Arevik Saribekyan, EUNIC cluster president in Armenia, updated her profile and explains why: "I believe that this is the best way to put the organisation into the attention of others. Development of EUNIC in Armenia and the creation of the cluster has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my professional development path. I was proud that the British Council was nominated and elected to take up the leadership of the cluster." She also explained that she has received several messages already from people interested to collaborate with EUNIC Armenia.
