Wearing polarized sunglasses when driving in the rain during the day will help a driver see better. Poliarized sunglasses work to block horizontal components of scattered or reflected light, which means they help counteract the scattering of light that atmospheric effects like fog or rain have on daylight.

NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN  WITH YOUR CRUISE  CONTROL ON.
You may think you're being cautious  by setting the cruise  control and maintaining a  safe consistent  speed in the rain. But in fact if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car  will  accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane.
