New Digital Publishing Report Now Available 

We are pleased to announce the publication of our report, Using Audience-Centric Digital Marketing to Drive Global Book Sales prepared by the Logical Marketing Agency. This report, designed specifically for Canadian publishers, provides readers with a greater understanding of the global book marketplace and details the digital marketing process and global book marketing and discovery. Market Guides on France Now Available

Download your copies of two of our newest market guides on France. Written by industry expert, Marie-Anne Lambert, the first volume of the report is focused on the book market in France and opportunities for Canadian publishers. The second volume concentrates on distribution and sales of both print and digital books in France. These popular reports are now in their third edition and offer Canadian publishers expert information on one of our most important export destinations.

Expanding the Rights Canada Network

The Rights Canada catalogue is now available in print and online. Print copies of the catalogue will be distributed next week at the London Book Fair. If you or your industry contacts would like to be notified when a Rights Canada catalogue is published, please join the Rights Canada mailing list. Canadian Studies Collection now available!

The 2015 edition of the Canadian Studies Collection has arrived! Visit our website to download your copy of the Collection. Distribution of the print catalogue has also begun: the Collection will be available at the London Book Fair, the Beijing International Book Fair, and the Frankfurt Book Fair. It will also be distributed at conferences of Canadian Studies Centres and Associations held this year. Reception at the Newly Refurbished Canada House in London

The Canadian High Commission in London will host a reception for publishers on Monday April 13, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the newly renovated Canada House, which was officially re-opened in February by Queen Elizabeth. The building boasts an impressive collection of Canadian art, and the new Queen Elizabeth Atrium. Guests will have a chance to explore the refurbished Canada House through guided tours offered during the reception. Private invitations will be sent out directly from the High Commission. If you are a Canadian publisher attending the London Book Fair, please inform us if you do not receive an invitation.

Beijing International Book Fair - Spaces Still Available

Registration for the Canada Stand at the 2015 Beijing International Book Fair (August 26 - 30) is open. Livres Canada Books supports publishers on the Stand by providing an interpreter and promotional tools, including a Mandarin-English directory of Canadian exhibitors at the fair, the Rights Canada catalogue and the Canadian Studies Collection. The exhibitor package also includes the services of a Chinese publishing advisor who will provide publishers with an analysis of the potential of their titles for the Chinese market, assistance in scheduling meetings with Chinese colleagues before the fair, and a Mandarin translation of the “sell sheets” for two titles. A pay-per-title option is available for publishers who can’t attend the fair in person.

There are so many to congratulate for their nomination for BC Book Prizes that we can’t possible name each title: our warmest congratulations to all the nominees! 

Many Canadian Publishers among INDIEFAB Awards Finalists

Congratulations to the publishers of Canadian books recognised as finalists for the INDIEFAB Awards! University of Regina Press is nominated in the History category for Garrett Wilson’s Frontier Farewell. Porcupine’s Quill is celebrating four finalists: Marika Deliyannides’s Bitter Lake (Literary Fiction), Bruce McDougall’s Every Minute is Suicide (Short Stories), Jeet Heer’s Sweet Lechery (Essays), and Bruce Meyer’s The Seasons (Poetry). Street Angel by Magie Dominic, published by WLU Press, is nominated for Autobiography & Memoir. In the Health category, Dundurn is nominated in for Phil Werdell’s Food Junkies and University of Ottawa Press for Homelessness and Health in Canada. University of Ottawa Press is also nominated for Petun to Wyandot (Regional). University of Alberta Press is nominated for Landscapes of War and Memory (War & Military). Annick Press’s Blue Gold by Elizabeth Stewart is a finalist in the Young Adult Fiction category; Lisa Charleyboy and Mary Beth Leatherdale’s Dreaming in Indian is a finalist for Young Adult Nonfiction.
