HAVANA BOOK FAIR

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is planning a delegation of publishers and authors to attend the Havana Book Fair, February 9-19, 2017, in Cuba. They have extended an invitation for publishers who are interested in this event to learn more about the Cuban book market. Due to the size of the delegation, places are limited. Applications are due by November 4th and should include information about your publishing program and why you would be an asset to the delegation. Please send your application to Stacey Atkinson, Project Coordinator, at s.atk@rogers.com. Publishers selected to participate as a result of their application will be contacted directly by Global Affairs. Please note that the Havana Book Fair has also expressed interest in featuring some selected Canadian titles. Publishers of these books will be contacted directly by Global Affairs.

Save the Date for a Unique Literary Event!

On the occasion of the official visit to Canada by Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway, NORLA – Norwegian Literature Abroad together with Livres Canada Books, House of Anansi Press and the Royal Norwegian Embassy has the honour to invite you to A cross cultural literature and publishing dialogue.

The event will feature presentations on Norwegian and Canadian publishing, networking opportunities and a literary conversation between Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Norwegian authors Erlend Loe and Hilde Kristin Kvalvaag.

Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. - 2:00 P.M., followed by a networking reception until 3:00 p.m.

The event will include a luncheon hosted by H.E. Ambassador Anne Kari Hansen Ovind and a musical performance by Norwegian artist Ida Jenshus. Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess will be in attendance.

Mentoring Coaching – France – last chance to register!

Are you looking for ways to enter the book market in France? This program will allow you to increase your export knowledge in France, meet with stakeholders in the French market, and properly evaluate the efforts needed to export your titles into this market. Program activities will include an overview of distribution in France (Montréal, Monday, November 14th), a discussion with our consultant, Nickie Athanassi, on the eligible publisher’s potential in the French market (Montréal, Tuesday, November 15th) and participation at the Salon du livre de Paris, including a guided tour of the Salon on March 22nd, followed by meetings with French partners, March 23rd, 2017.

Brazil Market Guide Consultant

In 2001, he founded PublishNews, a daily electronic newsletter that covers the Brazilian publishing market. Today, PublishNews has over 13,000 subscribers and publishes the most extensive best-seller list in Brazil. Carlo has also worked for several publishing houses, including Thomas Nelson Brazil which he launched in 2007. As a publishing consultant his clients have included Bonnier (Germany), Porto Editora (Portugal), HarperCollins (US), Bookwire (Germany), and Bajalibros (Argentina). He is a frequent speaker at international book fairs and conferences and is the Brazilian ambassador for Bookshare.

London Book Fair and Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2017 – REGISTRATION OPENS THIS MONTH

The 2017 London Book Fair (March 14-16, 2017) and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (April 3-6, 2017) will be open for registration in November. 

Space on the Canada Stand is booked on a first come, first served basis, so please register early.
