2017-2018 Board of Directors and Committees

Livres Canada Books welcomes the following members to its 2017-2018 Board of Directors: Margie Wolfe (Second Story Press/ACP) and Philip Cercone (McGill-Queen’s University Press/ACUP).

Martine Des Rochers (Presse de l’Université du Québec), Bianca Drapeau (De Marque/Professional Advisor), Antoine Tanguay (Éditions Alto) and Simon Payette (Édtions Chouette) have been re-elected to serve a second term on the Board.

We would like to give our sincere thanks to our devoted President Bob Dees (Robert Rose) and Caroline Fortin (QA International/Québec Amérique), whose terms have ended, for their dedication and service to the governance of Livres Canada Books.

Xiaoyan Huang has over 20 years of experience in publishing in the areas of acquisitions, import, marketing and children’s publishing, including positions at Amazon China, HarperCollins China, and the Shaanxi People’s Publishing House, China, and has authored three published works.  Xiaoyan is currently editor-in-chief of Trustbridge Publishing, a Hong Kong-based house.

Since 2013 she has provided PR, Sales, Marketing and Business Development services for clients including AudioFile Magazine, Ideal Audiobooks, GraphicAudio, Big Finish Productions and Firebrand Technologies

The new Rights Canada 2017-2018 catalogue is now available on our website. Download your copy today ! This edition features 286 titles from 104 Canadian publishers has been distributed digitally to our targeted network of international contacts. The catalogue is available online and the titles are also being promoted on the IPR License platform. Print copies of the catalogue will be available at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair. Thank you to all contributing publishers!
 

CANADIAN STUDIES COLLECTION REGISTRATION now open

Have you published a book that may be of interest to Canadian Studies scholars? Registration for Livres Canada Books’ 2018 Canadian Studies Collection is underway! 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair

You can view the complete list of publishers on the Canada Stand (Hall 6.0, B65) at this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, and download a copy of our directory here. We have also provided the contact information for publishers on the Israeli collective stand. Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2018 

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair has informed us that Halls 29 and 30 are undergoing construction and will therefore not be available for 2018. All exhibitors of these two pavilions will now be transferred to Halls 21 and 22, which are closer to the main entrance.
 
Look for your invitation to book a space on the Canada Stand in Bologna in the coming weeks. 

Programs

FRMAP and Mentoring – Funding Support

Contribution agreements have been sent to publishers eligible for the 2017-2018 FRMAP and Mentoring – Funding Support programs. Publishers who return their signed agreements will receive payments for their approved FRMAP claims. Final reports for the Mentoring – Funding Support program will be due in May 2018.

2017 CCBc shortlist announced

Congratulations to all publishers whose book were shortlisted for the Canadian Children's Book Centre Awards! The full list can be viewed here.
 

Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival: longlist

Greystone Books, Arsenal Pulp Press, University of Alberta Press, Harbour Publishing and Rocky Mountain Books have all been longlisted for the Banff Mountain Book competition. The festival recognizes the best in mountain-themed literature, guidebooks, mountaineering articles and history. The grand prize winner will be announced at the festival in November.
 

Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize

Congratulations to House of Anansi Press and Anvil Press whose titles have been named to the Roger’s Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize shortlist, recognizing the best novel or short story collection of the year. The winner of the grand prize of $25,000 will be announced in November.

 

2017 ALBERTA BOOK PUBLISHING AWARDS ANNOUNCED
