French Translation of our German Market Guide Now Available

A French translation of our German market guide is now available for download on our website. The German book market is an attractive one for international publishers. With Canada confirmed as the Guest of Honour at the 2020 Frankfurt Book Fair, there are many opportunities for Canadian publishers to conduct rights sales. Written by publishing expert Ulrich Spiller, this market guide includes information on distribution channels, bookstores, prices and sales conditions and opportunities and risks of market entry for Canadian publishers.

Korean Market Guide Consultant

We are pleased to continue our collaboration Tony Michell for the third edition of our Korean market guide, to be published in 2017. Michell is currently Managing Director of Korea Associates Business Consultancy, a visiting Professor at KDI School of Public Policy and Management and Research Director of the One Million Jobs initiative. Michell has taught economic development and change management in the UK, the US and Korea. Since arriving in Korea he has worked for the Economic Planning Board, the World Bank, ILO and UNDP. Since 1989 he has managed a business consultancy practice concentrating on Northeast Asia, serving selected multinational clients, and researching economic and social change. The author of several publications, his ideas about the economic development of Northeast Asia have been published in KIEP’s Northeast Asia Economic Development Report and he occasionally reviews for the Asian Review of Books.

New webinar: exporting to poland – save the date

Canadian Studies Collection 2017 Coming Soon

The 2017 Canadian Studies Collection is currently in production and will be available in February. This year’s edition features 77 titles and three advertisements on Canadian subjects from 30 publishers and will be promoted to Canadian Studies associations worldwide. FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR 2016 RECAP

It was an exciting year for Canadians at the Frankfurt Book Fair following the recent announcement that Canada will hold the coveted role as Guest of Honour in 2020.  This year, the Canada Stand, located in a more central location in hall 6, welcomed 39 exhibitors as well as the Ambassador of Canada in Germany, Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, during the Canadian networking reception in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
 

FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR 2017 INVITATION COMING SOON

Our invitation to register for the Canada Stand at the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair (October 11 – 15, 2017) will be released shortly. The Canada Stand will be exhibiting in Hall 6. We are in discussions with the Book Fair to secure the best possible location for the Canada Stand, providing maximum visibility for participating publishers and their titles. In the meantime, details can be found on the fair's website.

 

LONDON BOOK FAIR 2017 – only 4 pied-à-terre spaces left!  

The 2017 London Book Fair invitation has been released. We are pleased to offer a 25% discount in comparison to 2016. The 2017 Fair will take place at Olympia from March 14 to 16, 2017. The Canada Stand will be located in a strategic new position near the American collective stand. Stand space is limited and is reserved on a strict first come, first served basis.

BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR 2017 – REGISTRATION OPEN

Our invitation for the 2017 Bologna Book Fair has been released. The 2017 edition will take place from April 3 to 6, 2017. This year, the Canada Stand has merged with that of Québec Édition. It features all of the usual exhibiting options of the Canada Stand in order to meet your needs of fair exposure, and offers publishers an exciting discount in comparison to 2016. Space on the Canada Stand is booked on a first come, first served basis, so please register early. The deadline to register is December 9, 2016.

2017-2018 FRMAP and Mentoring Application Guidelines and Forms Available in JANUARY

Application guidelines and forms for FRMAP and the Mentoring - Funding Support program for 2017-2018 will be posted on our website in January, following the holiday break. The application deadline for both programs is April 1, 2017. 

We remind publishers that FRMAP claims for events and sales trips must be submitted no later than thirty calendar days after the event or trip for which the claim is made. Claim and Activity Report forms are available on our website.
 

2016-2017 Mentoring - Funding Support Final Reports

Guidelines and forms will be sent to publishers in February to assist in preparing final reports for the 2016-2017 Mentoring - Funding Support program. The deadline to submit reports is Friday, May 7, 2017.

2016 GOVERNOR GENERAL LITERARY AWARDS

We congratulate Leméac éditeur whose books Hare Krishna by François Gilbert (Young People's Literature – Text) and Inflammation du verbe vivre by Wajdi Mouawad (Drama) were awarded the 2016 Governor General litterary award last month!
