Canada Stand

Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2018 – REGISTRATION STARTED

The registration for the 2018 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, from March 26-29, 2018, has already started. Again this year, the 80 sq m merged stand in Bologna features all of the usual exhibiting options of the Canada Stand in order to meet your needs of fair exposure. Stand space is limited and is reserved on a first come, first served basis. 
Halls 29 and 30 are undergoing construction and will therefore not be available for 2018. All exhibitors of these two pavilions will now be transferred to Halls 21, 22 and 32.

London Book Fair 2018 – REGISTRATION started

The registration for the 2018 London Book Fair, from April 10-12, 2018, has already started. The Canada Stand will be at the same location as 2017 (6A100) on the ground floor of the Olympia Exhibition Centre in the general trade section. Stand space is limited and is reserved on a first come, first served basis.

Our invitation to register for the Canada Stand at the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair (October 10 – 14, 2018) will be released shortly. The Canada Stand will again be exhibiting in Hall 6, however we will be in discussing with the Book Fair to secure the best possible location for the Canada Stand, providing maximum visibility for participating publishers and their titles. In the meantime, details can be found on the fair's website.

Canada collective stand at the New York Rights Fair

The inaugural New York Rights Fair, to be held from May 30-June 1, 2018 and presented by Bologna Fiere, Publishers Weekly, and the Combined Book Exhibit, is a new rights fair covering rights sales negotiation and distribution of content across all formats including print, digital, audio, film and television, creating a true global event.  This event is open to both children’s and adult rights holders.  A 36 sq m collective stand will be available for Canadian book publishers to exhibit and hold rights meetings. Look for an invitation to register before the holidays. This event is FRMAP eligible.

Children’s Books Rights Event in January 

Publishing Perspectives, The German Book Office, and the Frankfurt Book Fair are offering a two-day Children’s Books Rights Salon (January 23-24, 2018) in New York City, where you can meet with American and international children’s book publishers and editors.

The cost is free and more details can be requested by writing directly to Hannah Johnson ( or Riky Stock ( The deadline noted on the invitation is December 10, but the organizers have offered to extend that date to December 15. This event is FRMAP eligible.


2018-2019 FRMAP and Mentoring Application Guidelines and Forms Available IN JANUARY

Application guidelines and forms for FRMAP and the Mentoring - Funding Support program for 2018-2019 will be posted on our website in January. The application deadline for both programs is April 1, 2018. 

We remind publishers that FRMAP claims for events and sales trips must be submitted no later than thirty calendar days after the event or trip for which the claim is made. Claim and Activity Report forms are available on our website.

Please note that all accommodations reserved through vacation rental companies (e.g. Airbnb, VRBO, Homeaway etc.) are considered as commercial accommodations under FRMAP.

2017-2018 Mentoring - Funding Support Final Reports

Guidelines and forms will be sent to publishers in February to assist in preparing final reports for the 2017-2018 Mentoring - Funding Support program. The deadline to submit reports is Friday, May 3, 2018.

2018 RBC Taylor Prize longlist announced

Ten titles were selected for the 2018 RBC Taylor Prize. Congratulations to Wolsak & Wynn Publishers for Yardwork: A Biography of an Urban Place by Daniel Coleman; House of Anansi Press for Seven Fallen Feathers: Racism, Death, and Hard Truths in a Northern City by Tanya Talaga; and Goose Lane Editions for Apron Strings: Navigating Food and Family in France, Italy, and China by Jan Wong.

German Publisher Acquires Rights to The Raids by Mick Lowe

 Baraka Books is pleased to announce that The Raids, Vol. I of The Nickel Range Trilogy, by Mick Lowe of Sudbury will be published in German by Verlag Edition AV in time for the Frankfurt 2020 Book Fair which will showcase literature from Canada.
