Board of Directors Meeting in Toronto

The next meeting of Livres Canada Books' Board of Directors will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Toronto.
 

Reduced registration Fees for the 2017-2018 Canada Stand

You’ve probably noticed that registration fees for the Canada Stand have been reduced this year thanks to a greater financial contribution from the Canada Book Fund to promote increased accessibility to the London, Bologna and Frankfurt book fairs. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to thank the Canada Book Fund for its ongoing support.
 

Havana International Book Fair

Delegation off to BogotÀ this month

The Canadian delegation for the Scouting Mission to Colombia departs this month to explore the Colombian book market. The seven-member delegation that includes Alexandre Sanchez of Lux Éditeur, Barbara Howson of House of Anansi Press | Groundwood Books, Catherine Mitchell of Pajama Press, Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin of Éditions Michel Quintin, Lisa Jemison of the University of Toronto Press, Piedad Saenz, Mission Consultant, and Christy Doucet of Livres Canada Books will spend February 27 to March 3 meeting with key industry players of this fascinating market. Following their return, the delegation will produce a detailed report of this market’s potential for Canadian publishers’ rights and distribution sales. The report will be available for download on our website. Furthermore, the delegation will share its experience in a Web conference.

CONSOLIDATED SHIPPING FOR LONDON AND BOLOGNA

Livres Canada Books is organizing a combined shipment to the 2017 London Book Fair and the 2017 Bologna Children’s Book Fair through Panalpina’s Toronto, or Montréal warehouse.

The deadline to be part of the London Book Fair consolidated shipment is February 24.
The deadline to be part of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair shipment is March 3.

BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR 2017 – 3 PIED-À-TERRE SPOTS LEFT  

The Canada Stand at the 2017 Bologna Children’s Book Fair is nearly full, with only three pied-à-terre spots remaining. The pay-per-title option is also still available. EXHIBIT ON THE CANADA STAND AT THE 2017 FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR

There are still spots available on the Canada Stand at the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair (October 11 – 15). Prices start at $1,470 for the pied-à-terre option and $2,570 for a 2 × 2m stand. Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; book early for the best spot.

2017-2018 FRMAP and MENTORING - FUNDING SUPPORT GUIDELINES AND FORMS AVAILABLE

Application guidelines and forms for FRMAP and the Mentoring - Funding Support program for 2017-2018 are available on our website. The application deadline for both programs is April 1, 2017. 

 
2016-2017 MENTORING - FUNDING SUPPORT FINAL REPORTS

Guidelines and forms will be sent to publishers this month to assist in preparing final reports under the Mentoring - Funding Support Program for 2016-2017. The deadline to submit reports is Friday, May 5, 2017.

Congratulations to House of Anansi Press and Coach House Books, whose titles The Break and Fifteen Dogs respectively have been selected as two of the books being debated during this year’s Canada Reads. Best of luck!


Groupes fides triumphs at gourmand awards

L'encyclopédie de Cuisine de la Nouvelle-France published by Groupe Fides is the national winner for Best Cookbook Illustrations category of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The book will now compete in its category against winners from other countries for the "Best in the World prize". The results will be announced in May at the annual Gourmand Awards Ceremony.
