Local restaurants support Astrodome coalition
Two Houston restaurants are offering delicious ways to help raise awareness about Proposition 2, the plan to repurpose the Astrodome as an exhibition and special events facility that will be on the ballot Tuesday, November 5. If Harris County voters do not approve Proposition 2, county officials have indicated the Dome will be demolished.
Through October 24, CRAVE Cupcakes
is featuring Astrodome orange “Save the Dome” toppers on their red velvet cupcakes. The special-edition cupcakes will be available at both CRAVE locations, 1151-06 Uptown Park Boulevard
and 5600 Kirby Drive
Triniti Restaurant and Bar
is offering a special Dome-themed cocktail, the Colt 45, through November 5. The drink, which commemorates the Houston Astros’ original name, is made with Aperol, Pierre Ferrand Curacao and Saint Arnold Lawnmower and is served in a glass rimmed with Cracker Jack crumble. Triniti is located at 2815 South Shepherd Drive
Be sure to take advantage of both specials, share the information with friends and post pictures of your Save the Dome cupcakes and cocktails to facebook.com/OurAstrodome
(and anywhere else with the tag #SavetheDome
"We're delighted that CRAVE and Triniti were so receptive to our suggestion to feature Dome-related menu items," said Preservation Houston Executive Director Stephanie Ann Jones. "We hope other restaurants and bars will join our effort to save the Dome.
"If your business is interested in participating with a special product, please e-mail Preservation Houston
as soon as possible so that we can raise community awareness in advance of the election," Jones said.
The restaurant partnerships are part of an educational effort
from Preservation Houston and a coalition of like-minded organizations including the National Trust, Houston Mod, American Institute of Architects Houston Chapter, and Houston Arts & Media to inform Harris County residents about the impact their votes will have on the future of the Astrodome.
