Plaster Repair and Painting
The Great Hall will be closed thru the 1st week of August.  We will have coffee and donuts in our newly refurbished Cloister Room. Access to the big restroom at the back of the Great Hall will remain available. We will need volunteers to help clear the room before work can begin.  Bear with us because beautiful changes and necessary repairs will be the result of this temporary inconvenience. Salvation Army Food Pantry
For many years St. Stephen’s has been the face of the food pantry volunteers at the Salvation Army on Thursday. We would like this outreach to continue for many more years. There is currently a need to add a few more volunteers to the roster. If you think you could devote two hours once a month to help bag and distribute food to the needy, please see Jean Veach or Sandy Bush. Thank you.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Manna From 7 weekend food distribution at the bus transit station.  Manna From 7 is at the bus transit station every Friday to distribute food for those in need for the weekend when the soup kitchens are not open. They need help setting up tables, distributing food and taking down. Times are 11:30 am to around 1:30 pm. See Deby Veach for more information.
Non-food pantry and haircuts for those in need at St. Stephen's. On the first Tuesday of each month, we need volunteers from 9:30 am to around 11:30 am to greet participants for haircuts provided by a local stylist and barber from Manna From 7. Our volunteers will also help serve coffee and snacks and help "shop" for hygiene items. This ministry started in April and all involved have had a wonderful experience. See Sandy Bush or Deby Veach to sign up.

Quarters for Clean Clothes Ministry launders clothes for those in need and the homeless every Wednesday. Donation boxes for quarters are on the bulletin tables in the church.

Sunday
is the
Last Day
for
Donations
A new school year is right around the corner and there are three ways you can help the Salvation Army give many children in our community a great start.

Be a Volunteer
This year’s Salvation Army Back to School  program is scheduled to begin Monday, July 29th and continue through Tuesday and Wednesday of that week. Shifts are scheduled from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 1:00 to 3:00 each day. There is an extra shift scheduled on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00. We hope to be able to schedule one volunteer for each two-hour shift. This year our volunteers may select a specific job on the sign-up sheet. Choices include screening clients, organizing school supplies or helping children select a backpack. Sign-up sheets can be found in the Great Hall around the doughnut table.

Donate School Supplies
In 2018 the Salvation Army handed out over 8,000 individual school supplies. The most needed items were pencils, pocket folders, glue sticks, wide ruled spiral notebooks and college ruled spiral notebooks. With this in mind we will be accepting donations of these items as well as backpacks. Containers will be placed in the back of the church for your donations.

Consider a Monetary Donation
Monetary donations for school supplies are always welcome. You will find envelopes for your donation with the sign-up sheets in the Great Hall and at each entrance to the sanctuary. Your check should be made out to St. Stephen’s and notated Back to School.  Please place your envelope in the offering plate. Questions can be directed to David Nearpass (812) 236-8792. Ruth Itamura will be available to answer questions at the eight o’clock service.
