The competitive landscape across industries is evolving rapidly and the lockdown is not getting in its way. Businesses are gearing up to greater agility and decision-makers are getting more creative, all from the great indoors.
And while in quarantine, if you've been busy managing your personal wealth, here is some perspective for you
While Shopify is best-known for powering the online stores of more than 1 million businesses, the company is launching a consumer shopping app of its own today, simply called Shop.
The app is actually an update and rebrand of Arrive, an app for tracking packages from Shopify merchants and other retailers, which the company says has been used by 16 million consumers already.
Shop includes those same package tracking capabilities, but it also allows consumers to browse a feed of recommended products, learn more about each brand and make purchases using the one-click Shop Pay checkout process.
Post the lockdown, the nation will require a safe & hygienic food ordering & dining experience which has prompted us (Paytm) to build ‘Contactless In-store Ordering’ for restaurants and eateries. We have innovated a unique QR that will be displayed at these restaurants. Our users will be able to browse the menu and place instant orders, thereby avoiding the need to touch the menu card which could be unsanitized and also minimizing interaction with the servers. This food ordering experience supports each of the payment methods that include Paytm Wallet, Paytm UPI, net-banking, and cards and offers live order updates on the Paytm app.
Monikers have followed Martin Pichinson for his whole career, given his line of work. He winds down technology companies, selling off their assets in their final days. And so, in some corners, Pichinson has become known as the "Undertaker of Silicon Valley." It's a grim practice he has honed since the dot-com bust of the late 1990s, when he shuttered nearly 200 tech companies. "If there's no revenue incoming and there's no money investing, the company is basically insolvent and out of business," he said. "We basically come in and clean up the messes."
Last week, as shutdowns and shelter-in-place orders became increasingly common, a mysterious Google Form circulated among students at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business: “Love Is Blind, Bschool Edition.” The name was inspired by the hit Netflix show where couples talk in isolated pods and subsequently get engaged without seeing each other. The rules are simple: Make a fake email address and tell the creators the business school you attend, your sexual orientation, and your gender identification.
