Autism Society of Central Texas Wins Media Award!
On October 17th, the Autism Society of Central Texas' Executive Director, Suzanne Potts, accepted a Media Award from the City of Austin's Mayor's Committee for People With Disabilities. The Media Award was given to us for our work in training first responders to assist people with autism through our First Responder Video. We shared this honor with the KXAN News team who were awarded a Media Award for their ADA lawsuit coverage. We are grateful to Jennifer Miller for nominating us & thankful to be honored for doing this important work.
 
Autism Film Festival & Casino Party: Thank You!
We had an amazing time at our Autism Film Festival & Casino Party on Sunday! We had a hugely successful event and raised approximately $27,000 which will be used right here in our autism community! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us by attending the event or volunteering! We are so thankful for all of you!  Pictured above on left: Autism Society of Central Texas staff & board members with actor Seth Lee from "The Accountant". Run, walk or volunteer! We've been selected as one of the 26 "Official Charity Partners" for the Austin Marathon's charitable program, Austin Gives Miles! Sign up to represent Autism Society of Central Texas February 19, 2017! Access Austin: Adult Vocational & Life Skills Program
 
We are thrilled to announce that Zak Van Vorhees has joined our team as the Employment Coach for Access Austin, our new adult employment and vocational skills training program, made possible by a City of Austin grant. We'll have more about Zak in our November newsletter! We're seeking interested clients for this free program, as well as volunteer & employment opportunities for our clients!
