Co-ops Celebrate Economic Development Week

This year's Economic Development Week provided Dairyland Power's member-cooperatives the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their economic development success stories and to highlight their economic development programs and services. On May 12th, co-ops in Wisconsin's Momentum West Region gathered with board of directors and staff of their local economic development organizations at Applied Data Consultants' headquarters (Wheaton, Wis.) to recognize and thank them for their contributions, support, and hard work to grow the economy.

2022 Economic Development week was celebrated May 9-13. The event was created by the International Economic Development Council in 2016 to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere. Dairyland Power and it member cooperatives are built by and belong to the communities they serve. Members of our local electric cooperatives are leaders in their communities that volunteer their time, talent, and treasure in helping their local economies grow and prosper.

Development Opportunities

Genoa, Wis. Power Plant Site

Dairyland’s recently completed Genoa Site Redevelopment & Reuse Study identified approximately 45 acres of land at the former power plant site that will be available for industrial redevelopment. Site assets include: Mississippi River access, highway access and well-maintained barge docking facilities. Barge transportation, transloading operations and light manufacturing/ assembly have emerged as the top reuse options. Dairyland is currently identifying potential interest in the site. This work will go forward in tandem with the continued decommissioning and dismantlement of the plant itself which will continue through 2023.

To inquire regarding site redevelopment opportunities, please contact Jenny Radcliffe, Senior Economic Development Specialist.
