Places filling fast for Grains Industry Farm Business Strategic Review

South Australian grains farming families only have until February 28 to register for the new Grains Industry Farm Business Strategic Review, with places filling fast for the subsidised business training program.
A partnership between Rural Business Support (RBS), Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), Grain Producers SA (GPSA) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), the program aims to help family grains businesses to grow and create jobs.
The program is funded to provide places for 35 families, giving them access to $7500 worth of professional business training for a registration fee of just $500.
The Grains Industry Farm Business Strategic Review is the result of a $200,000 commitment through PIRSA, building on a $300,000 commitment to develop the program in dairy in 2015 and 2016. The SA Government’s commitment is being supported by $100,000 from GPSA and $50,000 from GRDC.
Initial workshops will take place from 10am-2pm at central venues (TBC) in the following regions:
  • Tuesday 6 March            Eyre Peninsula (Wudinna)
  • Wednesday 7 March     Mid North / Yorke Peninsula (Clare)
  • Thursday 8 March          Mallee / South East (Location TBC)
Rural Business Support developed the Farm Business Strategic Review to help family businesses better understand their strategic position, analyse their financial status and identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
Rural Business Support CEO Brett Smith encouraged grain farming families to take advantage of this exciting and proven opportunity to build the resilience of their business.
“RBS is committed to building the business skills of primary producers and supporting them to plan the future pathway for their family farms,” Mr Smith said.
“Based on the results already achieved for families in the dairy and pork industries, we look forward to seeing the Grains Industry Farm Business Strategic Review produce similar levels of business growth not just for the families involved, but for the overall benefit of their wider communities.”
