Hello Spring & Hello Felt Lovers!

2015 has already seen a series of fantastic workshops, but I'm here to tell you there is more to come!

Yes, the long awaited exhibition is almost here; and I am currently busy felting away in the studio and spreading the word.

Alongside the exhibition I am running two days of exciting workshops; on the Saturday there are Free Family Feltmaking 1hr sessions, and on the Sunday a day-long Sculptural Feltmaking class; this fantastic workshop runs all day from 10.30am to 5pm, giving us plenty of time to explore wet felting and especially focussing on resist felting techniques. Students will draw inspiration from the sculptures and forms in the exhibition as well as from the mill and canal-side location - this affords a very broad theme which students can get involved with as much or as little as they like. It should be a wonderful day of felting in a fabulous location - the mill has classroom spaces that overlook the river/canal which, although being rather industrial, has a certain charm. I never run workshops like this for more than 8 people at a time as I find I can provide a much better teaching experience with a small group, this means you have more time with me peering over your shoulder helping you out, and more available to answer questions!

And if you cannot make it to these workshops there is another a few weeks later! Beginners Feltmaking in East London is running on Saturday 23rd May 2015In this one day felting workshop you will learn about the ancient craft of creating felt from wool fibres; make your own felt sample using wet felting techniques, and then design and make to take home. People tend to make things like needle cases, small purse/pouch, bracelets/wristcuffs, placemats, or simply a large flat decorated piece to embellish with embroidery; the choice is yours!
8 people max.
Suitable for complete beginners.

Fundraising Campaign
The Mill is looked after by the Tidal Mills Trust who are themselves fund raising to restore the mill to its former glory, as such all their money is tied up in that venture. So, I need some funds to help me promote the exhibition and workshops (printing of flyers, posters etc..), and also some funds to help me run the free workshops for local families with a low income (materials etc...).

You can help by donating your hard earned money, but there are some perks! I have set up a reward scheme for you fabulous people;

£10 – you will receive an exhibition postcard to say thanks, and personally inviting you to the PV

£20 – you will receive a handmade, handwritten thank you card sent right to your door, with of course, a personal invite to the PV

£38 – will get you a one of a kind, handmade, felted and embroidered brooch (you could always frame it and hang on the wall if you do not wish to wear it!)

£50 - will get you a one of a kind felted brooch, AND 20% off when booking any feltmaking workshop with me

£100 – you will receive a handmade thank you card, a one of a kind felted brooch, AND a fantastic one-day feltmaking workshop with me!

Other Ways You Can Help

I know that some people will be unable to help by way of ££'s, but that doesn't mean you cannot help:

You can help by sharing this campaign, and the details of the exhibition with your friends, colleagues, and family, via email, facebook, twitter etc...

You can also help with the promotion of the exhibition and workshops – once the flyers and posters are printed you can offer your assistance with distribution of them.

Any way that you can help will be greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance for your generosity!
