May You Thrive in 2021!

From Ellen Gianoli, BSN, MA, RN
President, National Association of Catholic Nurses, U.S.A.

In this Year 2021, may you thrive! May you grow in boldness, in virtue, in compassion!
Because you are Catholic, you have graces from Baptism to draw on.  You have opportunity to fortify your soul by Sacraments, Penance to be cleansed and the Holy Eucharist to nourish your soul.  The fullness of Truth is at your fingertips.  Spend a few minutes each day to draw on the well of God’s Grace within and surrounding you.
Mother Seton took Mary as her Confirmation name.  Mary, as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, is the patron of NACN-USA.  Elizabeth Seton founded the Sisters of Charity of Saint Joseph.  Pope Francis has designated this year 2021 to Saint Joseph.  We will be learning more about Saint Joseph’s quiet, firm perseverance through uncertainty and heavy responsibility.

Remember, nurses, you are God’s faithful ones. You are not alone.  With the intercession of our Saints and God with us, let us Thrive in 2021!

God Bless,  Your President,  Ellen Gianoli, RN

Spiritual Nourishment for the Catholic Nurse

Spending time with God a few minutes each day.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and unrest in the world around us, it is essential we nurses do as Saint Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton, by setting our hearts to focus on Jesus. The NACN-USA website has a number of tools and resources to aide you in fortifying your soul.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me.Then the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:8-9
