Fun With Elastic Thread

A Fun Solution for you in making easy peasy doll clothes - Elastic Thread

I hope you're enjoying the final days of this summer! Thanks to our fantastic newsletter subscribers for all their encouragement!  Beach Baby Doll is constantly hunting for simple ways to make tiny sewing more fun with great results. We want everyone to be a success in their doll clothes sewing. For this newsletter, I've chosen elastic thread as a great tool for you to use in some elements of construction. The most common use is in shirring. That's a gathering technique that, when used with elastic thread in the bobbin, has beautiful results. Other uses for elastic thread in the bobbin which I have found useful and time saving include sleeve and leg openings and even waist lines and necklines. Access my tutorial for you on using elastic thread by clicking

Easy use for elastic thread on sleeves

Try using elastic thread in the bobbin on sleeves.
Here I serged a decorative rolled hem then sewed one row of straight stitches using elastic thread in the bobbin, just about 1/4 inch from the hem. This is a 14 inch Groovy Girl. Her nightie is from my peasant blouse-dress-nightie pattern .
Peasant blouse-dress-nightie pattern  which fits 13-14 inch dolls like Hearts for Hearts Girls, Les Cheries, Groovy Girls and some vintage 14 inch girl body dolls: great diversity and great when paired with the simple pants and leggings pattern to fit the same dolls.

The Everything Costume Pattern

It's that time of year when we think about dressing up our dolls or, maybe our little one's dolls. The Everything Costume Pattern is a great solution for Bible time characters like nativity scenes, pilgrims, prairie girls, princes and princesses, angels, fairy godmothers and more. It also has suggestions and an invitation for doll costume parties. This pattern is easy enough for very beginning sewists, and can be done by hand ith great results .Advanced seamstresses will love to use it as a basis for embellishment and creativity. Beach Baby Doll has the pattern in three different sizes,. If you're just beginning your pattern collection, try the Everything Costume pattern for your doll's first wardrobe. Buy the pattern to fit your doll. The suggested variations (found HERE) can be done for all the sizes. You may even be eager to share your creations on our "Your Creations" page at
