Teens & Young Adults

The Teen Advisory Board is an opportunity where teens in the community can make their voice heard by providing advice and insight that would make the Cybrarium a more teen-friendly place and help the community. Plus, it’s a fun, meaningful way to earn some service hours.

Adult Programs

Adults can learn, craft, and improve their lives during December's programs. All events are free and open to the public. Be sure to check for registration requirements, as spots may be limited.

Technology Classes

The Cybrarium offers a variety of technology and computer classes each month. Most classes are targeted for adults, ages 18 and above. See below to learn more about the technology classes and presentations offered this December.

Community Happenings

The Cybrarium continues to host the Lamplighters Writing Group. The Lamplighters are a group of talented and aspiring writers with a flexible and dedicated membership.

Meetings are held in the First Floor Meeting Room on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from 5:00-630 PM.

January 12

Stop by and say hello at the Cybrarium's Downtown Farmer's Market table. We won't have food, but we will have information about upcoming events and a take-and-make craft kit.

Cybrarium Round-up

The round-up covers all that you missed since our last newsletter and provides updates about Cybrarium services. This month we look back at December's programs:
The South Dade High School Buccaneers Jazz Band started the month on a high note with their performance on December 1.
Our Lil' Learners dreamed of snow and made snowflake art during December Storytime.
The South Dade High School Buccaneers Saxophone Quartet wore their holiday spirit on their sleeves during their holiday performance.
These bright faces celebrated the Festival of Lights with Hanukkah read-alouds and a menorah craft.

Staff Pick: Book Recommendation

I Hope You Get This Message

by Farah Naz Rishi

Three teens must face down the mistakes of their past after they learn that life on Earth might end in less than a week.

News stations across the country are reporting mysterious messages that Earth has been receiving from a planet - Alma - claiming to be its creator. If they're being interpreted correctly, in seven days Alma will hit the kill switch on their "colony" Earth. True or not, for teenagers Jesse Hewitt, Cate Collins, and Adeem Khan, the prospect of this ticking time bomb will change their lives forever.

Jesse, who has been dealt one bad blow after another, wonders if it even matters what happens to the world. Cate, on the other hand, is desperate to use this time to find the father she never met. And Adeem, who hasn't spoken to his estranged sister in years, must find out if he has it in him to forgive her for leaving. With only a week to face their truths and right their wrongs, Jesse, Cate, and Adeem's paths collide as their worlds are pulled apart.

This book is in the Teen Fiction collection at the Cybrarium, and is also available in ebook and audiobook form through Hoopla.
