How to Register for the Gary
Reed Indoor Meet

Feb. 4, 2017
Our first meet of the year is a new one for us. We have scheduled the Gary Reed Indoor Meet for Friday evening and Saturday, Feb. 17-18 this year; a new meet branded to recognize one of our own Olympians, Gary Reed. We have had quite a lot of interest from many middle distance runners around the province, which has meant that we have expanded this meet from our original plans. We are hoping that most of our JD and older athletes will be entering events in this meet to get their first taste of the year (for most of them) of competitive action.

We felt it best to use this edition of the newsletter to let our club members know that there are 2 ways for you to enter the meet. Before that, it is important for anyone registering for the meet to have first looked at the List of Events Offered, and then at the Tentative Schedule to ensure you can enter what you want and to determine if you are able to compete if events conflict. Please click on the above links to download and read these files before registering. You will also be able to review the Meet Information Package by clicking on this link.

Track Rascals

We are considering a 60m race for our Track Rascal athletes if there is enough interest. This would likely happen sometime over the noon hour period after the 1500m have finished. Please let Dayl know if you are interested and will commit to attending so that we can try to schedule this 60m event into the meet. This would be a free event for these athletes who must be a Track Rascal or younger.

Ways to Register

Online Registration

Follow this link to our Online Registration system on Trackie. Here you will enter all the required information for your athlete, select the events in which you wish to participate, and make your payment through your credit card. Be sure to complete all necessary information, and the final step will be your payment information, which is a secure method of making payment.

This online registration system is active right now. If you register by midnight on Friday, Feb. 10, the fees per event are $9. After that, a late fee goes into effect and registration fees will become $20 per event (we don't generally charge our athletes the late fee, so if you miss the Feb. 10 deadline, consider registering at the meet). The online registration system will close on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:00 pm. After that, registration can be done only at the meet.

Registration at the Track

There will be a table set up at practice on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Athletes can bring their information on an envelope to pass in at that table. A used envelope is acceptable as long as the information below can be included. On the outside of the envelope, please print the following information:
  • first and last names of athlete(s)
  • year of birth for the athlete(s)
  • the event(s) the athlete(s) wish to enter
  • the fee owed for the events ($9/event).
Place the payment (cash or cheque made out to Kamloops Track and Field Club) inside the envelope. Once the fee is in there, seal the envelope so the fee does not drop out.

After this, registration and payment will be done only at the track on the day of the meet. We do not charge our athletes the late fee, so if you miss this deadline, you could still go online until  Feb. 10, or come to the meet to hopefully be able to register for the events you want.

If you miss the early deadline (Feb. 10). we will cut off registrations at 7:00 pm on Feb. 15. After that, we only accept entries if there is room in the event to allow this to happen (ie. we will NOT create additional sections if the event is full).

Important Dates to Remember

Gary Reed Indoor Meet (Feb. 17-18)

  • Online Registration - now until midnight Feb. 10.
  • At the Track - follow instructions above on Feb. 7 from 5:00-6:00 pm.

Upcoming Meets in Kamloops

  • Mar. 30-Apr. 2 - Van Ryswyk Indoor Invitational
  • Mar. 30-Apr. 2 - BC Masters Indoor Championship
  • Apr. 29 - Battle of the Border (High school invitational)
  • May 12-13 - Dylan Armstrong Classic
There are other meets in the province that we would hope our club members would attend. Please speak with your coach to get an idea of which ones would be good for you to consider. If these meets are more that one day in duration, now might be a good time to consider booking hotels in those cities. Information on these meets is not yet available, but watching the BC Athletics Calendar of Events will provide information about the meets as they become available. I will also try to keep you informed about this information as it becomes available.

Groups of parents may want to get together to organize car pools and shared accommodation for athletes wishing to attend these out-of-town meets.
