Fall and Winter Registration is now Open

August 13, 2017

Changes to our fee structure

We've had people asking for this and now we are able to provide it. We have added a payment option for athletes 13 and older. Now, these athletes may pay an annual fee (Fall/Winter/Spring seasons) if they wish, starting right now, the beginning of our training year. Our seasonal options are still available for all age groups.

Remember that our three seasons are:

  1. Cross Country - September - October
  2. Indoor
    1. September to March for 13 and older athletes training 4 times per week
    2. September to March for our Distance group (13 and older)
    3. November to March for JD athletes training 2 times per week
    4. Track Rascal - Session 1 - September, Session 2 November, possibly after Christmas, too
  3.  Outdoor
    1. April to July (date determined by BC Championships Jamboree) for 13 and older athletes training 4 times per week and for Distance group
    2. April to July (date determined by BC JD Championship date) for JD athletes (9-13)
    3. Track Rascal - to be determined by coach

Track Rascal and Junior Development (JD) athletes continue to register by the season. Athletes (JD and older) who were registered in our 2017 Outdoor Season are reminded that they can register for the Cross Country program at no charge. Any athletes (JD and older) who were not registered club members during the 2017 Outdoor season and who wish to enter the Cross Country program may register for this program by paying the regular fee for their age group.

Registration and Program Information

Our Program Information has now been posted on our website (, on the Club Program page. You will find a link there to specific age groups and our updated fee structure.

On the Club Registration page, you will find the link to our 2017-2018 online registration system, which is now active. Online registrations are our preferred method of registration, and once the correctly filled-in online form is submitted, registration in the club and with BC Athletics occurs right away.

For those wishing to register using the paper form, this is quite a bit more cumbersome. The forms must be filled in completely, a cheque written for the proper amount, and the Registration form and Fee payment must be received by the club, prior to beginning training. This last part is quite important as our coaches are partially paid from the registration fees. Once the registration form and fees are received by our Registrar, the athlete will be registered and our coaches and the athlete will be covered by the insurance that is mandatory for all athletes.

BC Athletics Fees

BC Athletics fees are annual fees from January 1 to December 31 each year. This means that many athletes registering in September may already have a current membership that is good until December 31. If the BCA fee is paid with your registration, and you were a member in 2017, our Registrar will renew your BCA membership on January 1st so that you will be covered for all of 2018.

If you were not a member of BC Athletics for 2016 and 2017, you must pay the BCA fee now, but it will be good until December 31, 2018 (BC Athletics provides a 16-month membership for those athletes who were not registered in the previous year.

A slight concern will be those athletes who were members of BCA in 2016, but not in 2017. You will still need to purchase insurance, but we will have to watch to see that your fee will cover you until December 31, 2018.

High School and Older Cross Country

Coach Ian Polos would like all his athletes to take part in these races:

  • Saturday, September 16 -TRU Invitational (Kamloops) High school& University
  • Saturday, September 24 - Dirty Feet Race (5K) in Kenna
  • Kelowna High school Race Series:

Ian's comment: "If there is interest and I am in town I can drive down a group of athletes".

  • Tuesday, October 24 - High school Valley Championships (Penticton/Summerland)
  • Saturday, October 28 - BC Club Championships (Abbotsford)
  • Saturday, November 4 – BC High school Championships (Jericho Beach Park)

Last Practices to be November 1 and 3 before high school champs unless some athletes want to go the nationals -Saturday, November 25 - Canadian Cross Country Championship (Kingston, ON)

Jason (Logan’s Dad) and Yvonne( AJ’s mom) are attempting to plan some high school races in Kamloops but Ian hasn't heard more on dates or locations. Carmen and I proposed they do them early October as there appears to be a gap in races then.
