Now that we've completed almost 3 months here in Lumbo, we would like to introduce you to some of the people that we've met and that we are asking you to pray for.
Meet Tina, our house helper.  Tina has worked in our house long before we arrived.  She has 5 children and 10 grandchildren.  She lives with her husband, 2 of her children, one of her daughter-in-laws, and a few grandchildren.  Although she does a great job at cleaning her real passion is cooking.  She is always asking me what she can do to help in the kitchen.  Just the other week, I realized that she knows how to make tortillas!  This has been one food item that I just haven't been able to figure out on my own.  She has been a great asset into learning more about our neighborhood and has gone above and beyond introducing us to people.  Her contagious smile and sweet hugs make you fall in love with her instantaneously.  Please pray for Tina, like the vast majority of our neighbors she is Muslim and is in need of a Savior.
Meet Daudi and Berta, our friends and fellow co-laborers in Christ.  Daudi is originally from Tanzania and Berta is from a more Northern Mozambican Province.  They live in our neighborhood and live here as missionaries just like us.  They are supported from churches from their hometowns and together we share a vision for seeing the Makua Nahara people come to know Christ as their Savior.  Please pray for them as they live and work among our neighbors that they will be a light for Christ in this dark place.
Meet Amisee.  If you're part of our Burnettes to Mozambique Facebook group, then you've seen prayer requests for this guy.  Amisee is one of our night guards.  Each night that he works, Daryl serves him coffee and bread which allows them time to talk.  Amisee has been coming to the teaching time on the farm where Daudi, Daryl, and other teammates are taking turns teaching the Bible.  Although Amisee comes from a Muslim background he recognizes the need for a Savior and has recently told Daryl that he believes in Jesus, that He rose from the dead, and that He is God's Son.  This is a huge step!  Please pray for Amisee as he reads his Bible and learns more about Christ.  Pray that he and Daryl will continue to have good conversations and that he will share what he has learned with his family and friends.
Meet Anita, Leah's "Grande Amiga (Great Friend) as she says.  Anita was one of the first people we met in our neighborhood.  She would stand at the door of her house and call out "friend" to Leah every time she walked by.  Anita has taught Leah all sorts of things about our neighborhood and about her way of life.  Leah has received cooking lessons, been invited to ceremonies, taught how to wear a head dress, and given numerous plates of Mozambican foods from Anita.  She has been an invaluable resource and literally a great friend.  Through some small conversations Anita has acknowledged her belief in God, that He knows everything, and that He created everything.  Continue to pray for Anita that she too will see her need of a Savior.  Also pray that God will give Leah more opportunities to share her faith with Anita and her family.
In family news:
We're doing well.  The kids are branching out to get to know more and more kids in our neighborhood.  They have begun Portuguese classes two afternoons a week and are learning vocabulary.  We have found a preschool for Silas to attend when the twins begin homeschooling in the fall.  He's not quite sure that he's excited about going to school in Portuguese and without Gabe and Eden but we think he will do fine.

We are enjoying exploring the cities and areas around our house.  We are looking forward to having Daryl's brother and his wife visit us for two weeks next month.

Please pray:
- For continued good health
- For our friends as mentioned above
- For our ongoing adjustment to our new area
- For us to build relationships with our neighbors
- For us and the kids to continue to learn Portuguese and for all of us to begin to learn the local language, Makua.

God Bless,
Daryl, Leah, Gabe, Eden, and Silas Burnette
