GPS Resumes This Sunday With NCR Half

NCR Half Marathon Resumes GPS

The Grand Prix Series resumes with the NCR Half Marathon, to be held next Sunday, September 28 at 8:00 a.m.  This flat, fast race is held entirely on the NCR Trail starting and ending at Sparks Road and the Trail.  The race is open to all runners, not just those of you who are participating in the GPS.

Use this race as your fall half or as a great tune-up for your fall marathon, whether the Baltimore Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon, or our own NCR Trail Marathon.

Race information can be found here.

Volunteer at BRRC Waterstop at Running Festival

Join fellow BRRC members at the Baltimore Running Festival waterstop.  A BRRC tradition since the Running Festival began, our waterstop at mile 9.5 represents a great way to interact with your fellow members while supporting local and visiting runners in the marathon.

Volunteers will meet on Saturday - October 18th, 2014. Please try to arrive between 7:00 and 7:15 a.m. to help setup tables, fill water cups, mix Gatorade, etc. We will be finished by 10:30. This allows us time to see our family and friends finish their races. The BRRC Waterstop will be located at Mile 9.5 at the intersection of Key Highway and East Cross Street. Street parking is available at this location. If you arrive after 7:30 you may have difficulty driving to the waterstop since roads will be closed. T-shirts will be provided to all volunteers that sign-up by October 10th. To volunteer, contact Suzie Boltz.

NCR Trail Marathon Registration Still Open

This is a reminder that registration is open for the 25th Anniversary Running of the NCR Trail Marathon and Marathon Relay,  and 8K Rails to Trails on Saturday, November 29, 2014 starting at 8:30 AM.

Hope to see you there!  Complete race information can be found here.  Go here to register early and SAVE!

It's not too late to volunteer to serve on the NCR Trail Marathon Committee.  Contact Race Director Christy St. Clair to volunteer.

NyAnn Smith Memorial Purple Run Sunday

Friends of the late NyAnn Smith, BRRC member and coach, have organized a run in memory of NyAnn to be held Sunday, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the same location as the NCR Half, at Sparks Road and the NCR Trail.  NyAnn's Purple Run will be a half hour out and a half hour back in either direction at your own pace (or a shorter time if you prefer). Please wear NyAnn's favorite color -- purple.

Everyone is invited to stay and reminisce after the run.  We're assembling a book for her family. Please write something, and bring a photo of you and NyAnn if you'd like.

A Facebook page has been created for the event.

Contact Ginnie Welsh for more information.

Seeking Volunteers

We are seeking members to volunteer with events in 2014.  There are opportunities for directing races, assisting with races, and helping with club administration.  Our strength as a Club is dependent on the commitment of our volunteers.  Please let us know that you would like to help.

About BRRC

The Baltimore Road Runners Club was founded in 1971 by Les Kinion to promote running for both the recreational and the competitive runner.   The BRRC is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).

Our current membership includes runners of all abilities and ages who can enjoy our events on the road, track or trails.  Whether your goal is to run a marathon or to get into shape, you will find other club members who share your interests.  We offer programs and opportunities for the newcomers to the experienced.

As an active member of the Baltimore Road Runners Club you will enjoy the benefits of our organized training programs, sponsored races, social outings, and volunteer opportunities. There are plenty of fun and exciting activities scheduled throughout the year.
