September update from BRRC

Greetings, BRRC!  Here is our September news update!
We have been busy, busy at BRRC!  The world changes faster all the time, and one of the best examples is in what we used to call the information highway, or was it the superhighway?!  It was “only” five years ago that we won this award for our website.  Wow, where has time gone? Our noble website has served us well and will have its place in BRRC lore.  Times have changed, however, as our site was created when mobile devices provided less than 10% of our hits.  Today, mobile devices account for much more than half our hits, and climbing.  You will be more than delighted to know that our new website will be out in the next few days!  Look for it at our familiar address.  Enjoy mobile friendly, wordpress open software design, a user friendly calendar, easy to navigate results, an integrated page, and much more.  Enjoy!

Our next trail race is the second annual Night Moves, Baltimore's FIRST NIGHT TRAIL RACE!

Our host for Night Moves, the Friends of Cromwell Valley, have a very nice note for us in their recent Annual Report available in the public domain.  Thanks Cromwell, and thanks to Talmar for allowing us to enjoy the great location!

Individual / Corporate Donations

We often receive monetary and in-kind donations from individuals throughout the year and we are grateful for all of the support we receive from our friends. Significant individual donations were received from………………………. Baltimore Road Runners’ Club continues to donate generously after holding events at our location.
Bring your light, this is night running at its best!  The only single track night running in Balitmore is next week!  The race will start just after sundown in beautiful Cromwell Valley Park.  The race is 6-ish miles, with a 4 mile cutoff option, starting and ending in the Talmar area and including some "rolling" hills and fast single track along with a fast downhill finish.  Finishers receive a high quality stainless steel growler just waiting to be filled with 64oz of your favorite refreshing beverage, and an optional free beer on us at McFaul’s IronHorse Tavern, adjacent to the park.  Grab your light and come celebrate participating in an historic run with us!  We expect a good crowd of runners here, especially for a single track trail run, so I would sign up online and soon.

GPS Half Marathon
On Sunday, October 7th , we will have our GPS NCR half marathon in Sparks.  (As long as the Gunpowder stays in its cage!) The packed limestone on the NCR trail is great for running, wet or dry.  At this time of year, the weather turns cooler, and your pace picks up.  For many of us, this half marathon is the ideal tuneup run for the marathon season, or dialing in a longer goal race.  This is the 8th of 9 Grand Prix Races, our longest GPS run, but like all of our events, the race is open to anyone.  Race day only entry, this may be approached as a low key run……but any time you go 13.1, it is the real deal!   Enjoy the run, and see you there!

Eliud Kipchoge, 2:01:39 marathon!
I am compelled to take note of the accomplishments of Eliud Kipchoge.  It is an historic time for marathoning.  Kipchoge is Ruthian.   11 of 12 marathon wins, Olympics, World Majors aplenty, World Records by big margins.  Congrats!
