News update from BRRC
Greetings BRRC!  Here is our latest News Update!
The Baltimore Road Runners Club's 29th NCR Trail Marathon and Half Marathon!
Wow, what a great day!  Cold downpours could not dampen the day!  Over a hundred of us volunteered and made this THE marathon!  There were so many great stories:
-8 year old Nate Viands runs 3 hours and 32 minutes!  Absolutely stole our hearts.
-50 year old Julie Pentico puts on her Joan Benoit Samuelson imitation and wins the women’s race in 3:05.
-Mike Wardian wins the men’s race. It was an honor to have the Wardian family join us.
-Oldfields is a more than gracious host.  We had wet weather, parking challenges, special facility needs and Oldfields was there for us, and is a part of the BRRC family.
-BRRC Hall of Famer Ronnie Wong finishes his 29th NCR Marathon!
-Record 800 entrants and 617 finishers
-Bruce Halpin finishes his 100th marathon at NCR!
Would you like to see NCR Pictures?!  Do we ever have pictures!
  From Clay Shaw: Stay Tuned!
Our perennial scribe for the NCR history, George Banker joined us, and finished his 23rd NCR!  Look for George’s recap soon!  Go to and our facebook page for full results, more pictures, and personal stories!
Thank you BRRC!  NCR makes our BRRC programs hum!

Thank yous that we receive are too numerous to post here. I will leave you with this one, and know that we read and respond to all of them.
I wanted to thank you and the other organizers/volunteers for a well-run fun event.  I thought the organization at the Oldfield School was fantastic.  It was comfortable hanging out waiting to get started and a welcome place to recover after the race.  I have to say the swag from the race is the best I have ever received.  I love the blanket and am wearing the pull over now.  Lastly, I had heard that you offer soup after the race.  I didn’t think that would be appealing to me, but it was awesome.  The perfect thing to eat and drink after the race.  It will go down as one of the best soups I have ever had.

Thanks for organizing another great race and killing the bathroom issue this time around. Soup tasted like the best soup ever. Shirts and blankets were tops -- best swag of any race. When I ran this race for the first time last year, I thought I'd just be doing it once. Then thought I'd do it one more time, so ran again this year. Now it's already one my plan for next year.
Please convey my thanks for all the organizers and volunteers who supported this event and us runners out on the trail.
Thanks again

The 2018 Grand Prix Awards and Annual Members Meeting!

The annual BRRC General Membership Meeting will be held at the Perry Hall Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library on Wednesday, December 5th.  Pizza will be arriving at 6:00 with the meeting getting underway at 6:30 pm, and we will depart by 8:30.   No reservations are required but heads up, seating will be tight.
We will be presenting our 2018 GPS Awards, recognizing our race directors and leaders, and having our annual elections.  Every GPS finalist will be receiving a BRRC performance running hat!

Having some Holiday fun!
We have our Holiday Hustle and Brunch Social 5k this Sunday, December 5th!  The 5k run has awards for all, and most importantly includes a postrace gathering for an awesome brunch at McFaul’s at the Loch Raven Reservoir,  The online signup for the Run and Brunch is only $10, which is a great deal!

And, we will also have a Holiday Fun Run in Hampden, on Wednesday, December 18th  visiting the lights on 34th Street and a post run gathering at Waverly Brewery.  Maps and details on that to come!
For 2019, you will find both of these popular events returning to our schedule, and we hope to add another Fun Run to our social schedule, as soon as we figure out what that one is!  I am looking forward to seeing more of you out there next year!
