Amid the sweltering summer heat, a barrage of fashion and design aficionados descended upon Fashion‧Design Mart 2016 on July 15-17. An annual event hosted by HKDC in collaboration with K11, Fashion‧Design Mart provides a platform for designers to test their products and business dexterity in a real-life retail environment.

HKDC Studio Hosts Design Exhibitions
It’s been a busy month for HKDC Studio. Hot on the heels of HK Design to Connect: DFA Awards Exhibition, and the barrage of breakfast meetings in May and June, HKDC Studio hosted WRAP UP, an exhibition featuring the best of Sunny Wong’s packaging designs, from July 7 to July 17. Co-hosted by HKDC and City Magazine’s Design Post, design partner of HKDC, WRAP UP is part of HK Design to Connect - a series initiated by HKDC to engage the community through the power of design.

Media Exposure for DIP Incubatees
We’re happy to announce that DIP incubatee Mim Mak, known for the unconventional cuts of her fashion label HANG, was interviewed by DBC and TVB recently. The interviews will be out later this summer.
Another DIP incubatee that is getting screen time is Derek Chan, who was interviewed by DBC. Derek founded DEMO, a contemporary menswear label, in 2012 and is definitely one to watch, especially for those want to inject their daily wardrobe with a shot of artistic spirit. HKDC Supports Local Businesses
As a supporting partner, HKDC was invited to judge at the 3rd Enterprising Hong Kong Brand Awards on July 7. Organised by the South China Morning Post, the Awards recognises and celebrates Hong Kong’s top small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their founders. Eric Yim and Edmund Lee, Chairman and Executive Director of HKDC, mingled with winners, finalists and judges at the event. Congratulations to all the winners!

Discovering Hong Kong Design Talents
Formerly in advertising field, Sharon Cheung devotes herself to design and founded accessory brand MIDOTI in 2014. Her design blends aesthetics with minimalism, shining with an ethereal touch. She is also versed in sharing her stories and way of thinking through her design. In 2015, Sharon was selected as one of ‘THE NEXT 100 Creators’ by Tokyo Design Week and was invited to showcase her signature ‘KNOT LOTS’ Collection at this annual design event.
