Greetings from Aillio

First of all... (drumroll please...)

We have Bullets in stock!

For the first time in -- well, ever --  we have some 200-247V Bullets in stock. That means no lead time -- we'll be shipping them out as soon as we receive an order. As for those in need of the 110-127V model, we'll have them in stock by the end of the month!

In other words, if you've been waiting to pull the trigger on a Bullet of your own, this is a pretty great time to head over to Aillio's Shop to place your order.

Roast Recipes:  We've written a new guide, and now you can share them with each other!

We believe Roast Recipes are one of the most under-utilized features of the Bullet. With that in mind, we've developed a pretty extensive Guide to Roast Recipes that not only explains how to use them, but also why you should use them. They can teach you so much about roasting -- particularly now that you can share them with each other.

Yes, one of the new features explained in the guide is the ability to save and download Roast Recipes from others! You can search for these recipes on Roast World according your specific needs. For example, you can specify what charge weight they are designed for, whether you use them for naturals or washed coffees, and to which roast degree they will carry your beans to.

If after reading through the guide you still have questions, feel free to ask away at

Roast.World News Feed

You may have already noticed that Roast.World now has its own news feed. At least in the beginning, everything will be personally curated by us. We’ll be sharing coffee articles and studies from across the web, user polls, and of course Aillio-centric content such as user roast profiles and recipes, how-to guides, tips and tricks, and pretty much anything else we can think of. We’ll keep it updated on a regular basis, too, and past posts will remain accessible in an archive.

We're still playing with the look and feel of it. So, if you haven’t seen it, take a moment to check it out. If you have any feedback to give, we’d be happy to hear from you. Drop us a line at

Sample Roasting...

We are often asked whether the Bullet can function as a sample roaster. The answer is a resounding YES. (One of the first posts in our new Roast World feed is about sample roasting on the Bullet. )
It's a longstanding myth that the Bullet can only handle batches greater than 350g. That recommendation was based off the original bean probe, which only produces useful data at about 300-350g. But with the IBTS, you can get good data from batches as low as 200g, and if you're willing to go full-manual mode, you can enjoy success with batches as low as 100g. (Thanks to Theresa for her wonderful guide. Check out her podcast for more useful info about roasting and cupping and all things sensory.)
We're planning to write a deep-dive into how and why to use the Bullet for sample roasting, and would love to hear more from you, our users, about your own approach to sample roasting. So if you'd like to share with us, please drop us a line at
That's all for now everyone, keep drinking great coffee!
