An important update from our Principal Executive ...
Hello GUFC families
I hope this email finds you and your family well.
It is unusual times right now with unprecedented flow on effects for Gungahlin United Football Club. Our club, as with all football clubs in Australia, are relying heavily on the advice being communicated to us by our governing bodies, health authorities and the Australian Government.
The Football Federation of Australia (FFA) continues to provide information on COVID-19 and the suggested approach to grass roots sport via their website, social media and direct communication with clubs via each state's governing body, which in our case is Capital Football.
Under their guidance GUFC has closed all registrations for the 2020 playing year, paused any payment plans that are in the system, and put measures in place to ensure all registration monies received to date are being held with our bank until we hear more about the future of our sport within the current world-wide pandemic. Until we receive updates and/or revised timings from our governing body, we will continue to prepare for the possibility of a 2020 season in whatever form it may take.
As with any organisation in these uncertain times, GUFC needs to be very mindful of how we conduct business. This includes careful management of community money to ensure Gungahlin United can continue beyond COVID-19 and be ready to hit the ground running once we're given the all clear. We appreciate your patience in that regard.
While I know many of you are wondering when we might start to offer refunds, it is the advice of the FFA and Capital Football that will help steer any decisions made about refunds for the 2020 season. In the scheme of the current challenge, it's still relatively early days. To ensure good business based on strategic and well guided decision making, we as a Club continue to watch, listen and learn about the likely time frames and/or future for the 2020 soccer season.
We will continue to update you often. In the meantime keep an eye on our News item found on the front page of our website titled "COVID-19" and also watch the news streams offered by the FFA and Capital Football.
As we all wait this out at home, our communications team is finding ways to extend the GUFC experience through new communication initiatives and social interactions so that our players can continue to feel part of the GUFC family despite the current isolation.
We wish everyone the best of health in these testing times.
