Hello horse lovers!
I hope you and your horses are well and looking forward to the longer and warmer days ahead as Spring approaches.  I have been really focused this winter to keep riding and making progress toward my goal of competing in dressage with Rocky and am so proud to say that we achieved that goal at the end of July!  It was my first competition in 16 years, and Rocky's very first competition which made it even more exciting.  To set us up for success in the weeks prior, I did a few trips down to the local equestrian centre with Chanel to keep him company in the float (as you may remember he has fairly strong herd separation anxiety) and by the second trip, he was so much more relaxed and really enjoyed the outings - I think he is finally starting to grow up!  On the show day, we arrived two hours before I was due to ride and Rocky's poor little eyes were popping out of their sockets with him not really knowing what to think of the new environment and what was going on around him.... Chanel was relaxed and happily eating her hay at the float as if she had done it all many times before  - the difference between the introvert and the extrovert eh!  We competed in two training tests (non-graded) which were not too demanding and a perfect way to start out.  In the first test, Rocky was still pretty tense but we managed to get through the test without any drama and it was a big sigh of relief to et the first one out of the way.  After a roll and a pick at some grass, it was soon time to saddle up and warm up again for the second test.  This time Rocky had relaxed a lot more and was almost going as nicely as he does at home in the warm up arena.

The test went very well and I was over the moon when the results came out and we were second place in the first class and had won the second class with a score of 73.4%!  The comments were so positive with my favourite being  "Very promising combination.  At talented horse ridden well".  What an incredible achievement, and just the beginning of this exciting new journey of specialisation!
It was so wonderful to have a bunch of supporters turn up to cheer us on, thank you all so much, it really meant a lot!

Linda Parelli has developed an incredible new support product called the Finesse training sequence. In the most masterful way, Linda has carefully broken down the pathway to riding with precision into bite size chunks to allow both horse and rider to become really confident in each step - therefore creating a wonderful bridge from Freestyle (riding without contact) to Finesse (riding with contact). I truly believe that 'The Finesse training sequence' is the "missing link" we have all been waiting for and in this workshop, I will be demonstrating each step of the sequence with Rocky who is being developed using this training sequence. This is an opportunity to see it in the flesh, to ask questions and get inspired. Finesse isn't as scary as you think. The sequence makes it achievable for every rider to develop a happy, healthy and confident partner in 'soft touch' and then 'contact'.
Anyone at any level is welcome to attend this workshop and see the big picture!   Please invite your non-Parelli horsey friends along, so many riders out there could benefit from this information!
