It has been a tough year and we want to end it by looking back on all we have achieved and to thank everybody who got us through it!

If she can't see it, she can't be it

2020 has been an incredible year for KDFC's women's and girl's teams. As well as the growth in the teams, the club has been strengthened by more women joining the club as coaches, volunteers and committee members. We have signed up to the 20 x 20 Charter, committing the club to celebrate women's sport and promote a more inclusive, healthier Ireland.

Our women's senior team are bringing their dominance to a new level playing in two semi-finals - in Clubforce Challenge Cup against Terenure and against Whitehall Rangers in the Premier Cup. They will play the League Shield final against Booth Road Celtic or Broadford Rovers (TBC).

We have had incredible highs including Jemma Quinn being appointed Player of the Month by the Eastern Women's Football League (September/October) and some lows, with Megan Coomber sustaining an injury which has probably ended her season - get well soon Megan!
Unfortunately the girls only managed to get one game in before lockdown but the numbers at training have been growing all season. We started the girls team in September 2019 with 8 girls and we now have two under 12's teams and an under 13's team. We have almost 50 girls in our schoolboy/schoolgirl section and even more in the Academy. We eagerly await a return to matches so the women and girls can get back on their pitch and show their skills.

A special thanks to manager Thomas Heary (former Huddersfield, Bohemians and Dundalk footballer) and Dionne O'Hanlon who have put a phenomenal amount of time and energy into their teams this year.
LSL Senior Sunday

The 2019/2020 season will be remembered by many but fortunately for our Men’s Senior Sunday team it will be for more than just Covid. Following a very strong first half to the season and showing great cup form, our first team progressed all the way to the final of the infamous FAI Intermediate Cup for the first time in the club's history. Unfortunately, it wasn’t our day on this occasion but everyone involved with the team is determined to get back there again and this time be able to have everyone in the stadium supporting. We welcome the re-signing of our onform squad and are excited by the new talents that have come on-board. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Senior Team main sponsor Virgin Media Ireland and our secondary sponsor Members First Credit Union. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Hadden Park very soon.

LSL Major 1a Saturday

Our Staffords Funeral Home sponsored Major 1A Saturday team also showed great form in the cup in the 2019/2020 season making it to the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup. Unfortunately Covid restrictions had a more adverse effect on the Saturday team and we were unable to fulfil the required fixtures before the end of the league season. We have been building since then and are delighted with the strength of our new squad and are excited for the season ahead. The new management team of Anthony Shaw and David Sheridan are looking forward to being able to show what this team is capable of.
Underage football
Despite - or maybe with a little help from the pandemic - Killester Donnycarney FC has grown by 50% on 2019 with over 150 schoolgirl and school girl players. Our KDFC Academy has expanded from having up to a hundred 4 - 7 year old boys and girls regularly playing.

There was lots of fun over the summer with two sold out Killester Donnycarney FAI Summer Camps in Hadden Park with some of the FAI's top coaches. We will be putting on another two camps in 2021.

Everyone was a winner at August's Mini-Leagues with over 130 players and 26 battling it out for a coveted KDFC trophy.
FAI Club Mark

Killester Donnycarney FC recognises that well managed clubs with strong structures and volunteers are best placed to promote football and develop players. With guidance and support from Vincent Foley and Barry McGann of the FAI, Killester Donnycarney FC has been working towards achieving the FAI Club Mark - an award based on best practice in the governance, management and administration of a football club.
Social club
We are really missing all our members at the club house. Despite every effort by volunteers, our re-opening in collaboration with  from San Marino Artane was short lived. We live in hope that we can welcome you back soon!

A note of appreciation
'I just love playing football and being with my friends’. - Mathew Moriarty, U10's
It can be hard sometimes to motivate ourselves to get out there and participate - on and off the pitch - but Mathew's words are what drive us all.

We want to say the biggest thanks to all our players for making us so proud and for going out onto the pitch, hail, rain or pandemic - for showing great resilience and being able to adapt to the changing regulations and conditions.
Behind the scenes there are so many people to thank for helping us through this challenging year and helping our club to become better than ever. We now have over 50 volunteers registered doing a variety of roles (manager, coach, covid officer, fundraiser, committee member and more). Together with the parents, guardians and players, you are our club and you are the people helping to create memories for our families. Whether you're the chairman or you've cheered from the sidelines, lifted a goal, tied a lace or bought a ticket - it all matters.
