Victoria's Great Outdoors Funding Announcements
|

|
Budget announcements are coming thick and fast at the moment ahead of next week's Victorian Government State budget.
$45.2 million funding boost to get kids moving was announced earlier this month. The package will also deliver more opportunities at school to participate in sport as part of the Active Schools program.
OV is very proud to announce that our Outdoor Leaning Toolkits for primary schools have been selected to be included in the ACTIVE Schools toolkits in the coming weeks. The Outdoor Learning Toolkits were created in partnership with ACHPER VIC, EEV, GTAV & Parks Victoria
- A $465 million Victorian Tourism Recovery Package was announced by the State Government on Wednesday to help the sector bounce back after a year of bushfires and necessary health restrictions to protect Victoria from coronavirus
- $200 travel vouchers are being announced for Victorians who holiday in regional Victoria over summer and spend at least $400 on accommodation, attractions or tours in the regions.
$105.6 million is being invested to deliver better forests, parks, campgrounds, tracks and outdoor facilities.
In readiness for a truly well-deserved holiday season, Victorians can now book their favourite campsites and visit reopened parks thanks to the hard work for Parks staff and the Victorian Government’s Great Outdoors program.

Congratulations also to the Murray River Adventure Trail for securing $10.3 million from the Victorian Government to attract more visitors and grow jobs in Northern Victoria.

Board member Sophie Bone is sadly retiring from the OV Board after the meeting today. Sophie has served on the Board for three years and came to us with the perspective of a background in teaching including setting up O.E, a nature based tourism business owner, and a Big 4 Caravan Parks Board member.
Her insight assisted us to think and work more strategically and was an inspiring Keynote at the annual Careers in the Outdoors Day we run at Victoria University for hundreds of school students in years nine through to twelve from across Victoria.
We wish Sophie all the very best bringing up her young family as well as running her business and other Board work, in the toughest of times.
Thank you Sophie for your service to the outdoors community.

We congratulate the recently appointed board members and chair of the newly formed Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) which will no doubt work tirelessly to protect and improve the iconic Great Ocean Road coast and parks for future generations. Importantly it is great to see that recognised Traditional Owner groups in the region, the Wadawurrung Corporation and the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation are represented on the board. Official transition date is Dec 1, 2020. We look forward to keeping up with their news and working with the team in the future.
