Umami-ya Shabu Shabu

Honolulu Magazine

Umami-ya Shabu Shabu opened earlier this month as the hot-pot craze in Hawai‘i seems to be on a steady simmer. But restaurateur Peter Kim believes his version of the popular concept—more upscale, more Korean—offers something different.

A Dining Experience

Most Expensive Restaurant in Asia

Furious Pete (video)

Curious to see what a $1,000 per person dinner looks like? There's an underground, ultra fine-dining restaurant in Asia where you need to book online to reserve your seat out of 10 available per day. The chef Paul Pairet's style is set as avant-garde figurative. The 20-course (or so) menu will move in a series of dishes grouped by size and nature. Dinner may begin with just one or two bites dishes, move to more substantial fare, then shift downhill for a series of digestives and sweets in diminishing sizes. Visit the website to learn more.
