Falling Into Place This Autumn
This last month, we saw a huge shift in the Adult Use side of the Cannabis Industry in Colorado in regards to how marijuana products will be measured. As of July of this year, adults over the age of 21 with a valid license (regardless of state of origin) could purchase up to 28 grams worth of marijuana infused product. At this point a 100mg edible was considered .1 gram (meaning you could legally purchase 280 edibles at 100mg in a single transaction) and 1 gram of concentrate like wax or shatter was considered the same as 1 gram of flower (so you could legally purchase 28 grams in a transaction).
Now the state has deemed that it is a limit of 28 grams of flowers OR a 100mg edible or a gram of concentrate = 3.5g of your limit. This has put a lot of pressure on budtenders to be careful with their transactions so that they do not accidentally sell a customer over their legal purchasing limit. Some customers are also less than thrilled that they can’t stock up in a single transaction, and have to keep returning more often than they normally would.
As cannabis is becoming more and more socially acceptable, we are seeing a lot of changes not just in the cannabis industry in Colorado, but around the nation especially with this being an election year. California, Arizona, Maine, Massachusetts and Nevada all have Adult Use on the ballot, and Arkansas, Montana, North Dakota and Florida are all voting on Medical this November. We were asked by the group AGRiP (Association of Governmental Risk Pools) to educate them on the cannabis industry in Colorado so that they could better speak to it with their local government agencies.
AGRiP provides education, networking, operations and best practice resources, intelligence and advocacy for local level government influencers. It is estimated that at least 80% of all 90,000 local public entities in the US participate in one or more risk pools. We were so happy to see that a lot of perceptions were changed by the end of the tour after having seen how regulated and transparent the growing process is and seeing all of the different cannabis products that can be part of a happy and healthy lifestyle.
On the topic of a happy and healthy cannabis lifestyle, you may have noticed that our social media has been bumped up to the next level. IN addition, we include product recommendations to enhance each local experience. We are happy to announce that we have added Catherine Goldberg, of Brainbuzz, to the City Sessions’ team as our new head of social media marketing. Catherine has also been sharing more of the City Sessions’ experience on our Instagram to help you reminisce on your experience, or get pump for an upcoming tour or visit and to keep you in the know!
This last month we have been extremely busy with more and more people wanting to take the City Sessions experience especially with legalization on the ballot in so many states, and we have not had the time to film any sessions. However, we are excited to announce that City Sessions has partnered up with Green Lion Partners, to create a new series of videos that are meant to educate the masses on the newly emerging legal cannabis culture and its inner-workings.
