Thanks to continued support from WEDC and UW System, the Ideadvance Seed Fund is in its 3rd round of funding supporting Wisconsin innovations through 2020.  Each year, applicants are thrilled for the prospect of up to $25,000 in grants to support their new or growing idea.  But less obvious is the impact of the training.

SBIR Ready Now Accepting Applications


CTC's popular program for new-to-SBIR faculty, post-docs and early career scientists, SBIR Ready, is now accepting Letters of Interest! 
SBIR Ready is an immersion opportunity designed to support an individualized, self-directed career path for early-career scientists.  Using applied business development activities and SBIR/STTR grant writing skills, this short course will teach you invaluable skills needed to be successful in vetting new technologies and accessing funding through this $2.5 billion non-dilutive federal program.  This program is for innovators or researchers  WITH or WITHOUT their own technologies. 

Teams can access up to $3,000 toward their idea.

In this free, 4-week course expect to;

  • Evaluate your tech project from multiple angles to make a business case
  • Receive help extracting specific aims with market research, gap analysis and best practices examples
  • Draft a budget and compile resources needed with guidance from our team
  • Receive a walk-through of the SBIR application process
SBIR Ready begins June 4th and is being held in Madison, Milwaukee, and one UW System campus TBD (based on interest).

The
NSF I-Corps Program helps researchers translate their academic research into real-world products by providing a working knowledge of how to think about their research from an end user/customer perspective.

Assistance for first time NIH SBIR/STTR applicants

Are you new to the NIH SBIR/STTR Program? Applicant Assistance Program (AAP) can help you build a stronger funding application! Interested small businesses can apply to the program once the AAP application portal opens on Thursday, April 18, 2019. Application deadline is Thursday, May 30, 2019.
  • The AAP 2019 cohort is only available for National Cancer Institute. Therefore only those projects that aligns with the mission of the institute will be accepted this round.
  • Participants of the AAP 2019 cohort are expected to submit SBIR/STTR funding applications for the September 5, 2019 receipt date.

Planning on submitting an SBIR proposal for the June NSF deadline? Let us review it first. Our multidisciplinary panels mimic the federal agency’s review process and taps reviewers with experience in SBIR/STTR funding, technology commercialization and/or technical expertise.
Our goal is to provide you with actionable recommendations regarding your draft ahead of your SBIR/STTR submission deadline.
