Deadline quickly approaching for NCI's SBIR Phase I Applicant Assistance Program (AAP)

AAP is a FREE program aimed at helping small businesses apply for Phase I SBIR or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding. The program provides participants with services such as SBIR/STTR application needs assessment, mentoring, Phase I SBIR/STTR application preparation support, and application review. If you are interested, apply by Friday, October 4, 2019 on the AAP Application Portal.

Program eligibility is limited to small businesses who have not previously won an SBIR or STTR award from the NIH. Applications must fit within the mission of one of the four participating Institutes to receive consideration.  Participating Institutes include:
  • National Cancer Institute (NCI)
  • National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
  • National Institute on Aging (NIA)
  • National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)

Free entrepreneurship training program designed for SBIR and STTR awardees

I-Corps at NIH is an entrepreneurship training program created specifically with small businesses in life sciences in mind. The 8-week program supports Phase I SBIR- and STTR-funded companies with their commercialization efforts. By conducting 100 interviews over 8 weeks, small businesses refine their target customer, key product, and market needs. The interviews help participants make new networks, establish partnerships, and build commercialization plans that accurately address the needs of their target market.

Application Deadline: Tuesday, October 22, 2019
Cohort Dates: February 24 – April 15, 2020
Eligibility: Companies with active Phase I SBIR/STTR award from any of
23 participating NIH/CDC institutes and centers.

DOD SBIR/STTR open for proposal submission

The DOD SBIR 19.3 and STTR 19.C Broad Agency Announcements are Open for Proposal Submission.  If you have questions, be sure to ask before October 9th!

DOE National Laboratories Accepting Applications for Cohort of Innovators Program

Three of the Department of Energy’s National laboratories are now accepting applications for their respective Cohort of Innovators through October 31st:

The participant in the programs will receive: 
  •  A two-year fellowship – includes a stipend depending on education and experience, along with health insurance and travel allowance,
  • Research funding and access to world-class research facilities – Access to facilities, equipment, and expertise and expertise,
  • Startup curriculum and a community of peers – Intensive entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to enable participants to build a viable business.
