George Battle Decision Expected on District 12 Race July 10.
George Battle serves as general counsel for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education. A Charlotte native, he graduated from West Charlotte High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was student body president and graduated from the School of Law. He and his wife Renita have a 7-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son.

George Battle: Decision on District 12 Race Expected Next Week
CHARLOTTE, NC--George Battle will make an announcement on July 10 on whether he will enter the race for the U.S. House of Representatives, 12th District of North Carolina The seat is expected to be vacant when Congressman Mel Watt is confirmed by the US Senate to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Battle currently serves as General Counsel to the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board. Prior to joining CMS in 2010, he spent 11 years with Carolinas Healthcare System as associate general counsel, corporate counsel and associate corporate counsel.
“Our country is really at a crossroads.  We are contending with serious issues, and it worries me that my children may never have the same opportunities that I had,” said Battle.  “I’ve talked to citizens all over the district in the last few months, and fulfilling their hopes and dreams for the future is paramount to America’s success.”
He is a member of the North Carolina and Mecklenburg County Bar Associations and previously served on the board of directors for the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and Bar Foundation. Currently he serves as Vice Chair of the Community Building Initiative Board of Directors.  He has also served on the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges, as well as on the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor Search Committee for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was named a 2009 North Carolina Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyer magazine.
A native of Charlotte, Battle graduated from West Charlotte High School. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was student body president, and went on to graduate from the University’s School of Law.
