The RUNDOWN

[ Volume 18 ]

COMPANY: Raise
raise.com

WHAT IT IS: An online marketplace to buy and sell gift cards at a discount.

WHY WE LIKE IT: Do you have any unused or unwanted gift cards? We bet you do! Raise is a platform to actually DO something with those cards. By listing your gift cards on Raise, you can turn the cards into cash once someone buys your card. Or, for shoppers, Raise is a simple, mobile approach to search for brands or companies you like and buy someone else's unused gift card at a discount.

This app offers lots of flexibility for sellers since you can list physical gift cards, electronic gift cards, and merchandise credits. Plus, if you buy a card, you can redeem it immediately in the store or online. Talk about saving time and money! The checkout line will never be the same again.

Whether you’re into retail therapy or not, you just might be able to save money with Raise. And, at the very least, you can get a head start on cleaning out your “junk drawer” by searching for cards.

HOW MUCH IT COSTS: The app is free to download. Raise collects a 15% commission on the selling price.

NOW, TAKE THE FIRST STEP: Visit the site to download the app and set up an account. You’ll be asked to add your payment info. Start by browsing for the stores where you shop. Or, gather up cards you’re not using and try listing them on the site. Happy shopping!
